Expressing my gratitude for this forum

Hi folks, I'm in a mushy mood and wanted to put it out there that I'm incredibly grateful that this forum exists, and I'm so impressed by the quality of the people and posts.

Other car model forums have so much noise from people posting who do not know what they're talking about, or can't write a complete sentence. This forum has more than a few people who know their Z4s inside and out.

On a personal note, this forum has helped me on my own car DIY journey. Just the existence of the DIYs and people here have given me the confidence to undertake these projects. My first project was the convertible top motor. Since then, I've done brake pads, oil changes, coilovers, headers, o2 sensors, clutch, flywheel, shifter bushings, handbrake lever, and probably a lot more I forgot about.

So thanks everyone!!! This forum is awesome. Z4s are awesome. I hope I never sell mine.

Man, this almost motivated to post about my last suspension mod, but the few last posts I thought were interesting got zero appreciation LOL. So I have not really bothered. I have found the new M3 forum very useful too, a lot of information there applies to our vehicles too (Z4M's)

As a relatively new owner I agree with this sentiment 100%.

A tip to those of you who are newer here - because these cars have been out of production for 12 years now, activity is FAR lighter nowadays than it was back in the day when these cars were more current. There is a metric buttload of information going back well over a decade that is still at your disposal here in the forums. Sometimes just wandering further and further back chronologically, even when you're not trying to find some specific piece of info, can yield some very insightful and helpful info.

I've been around long enough that this forum was a critical source of information as I was making my initial purchase decision back in 2007. Scary how the passage of time seems to accelerate with age!

A few thoughts...

As the retired engineering type, this forum - along with other BMW forums - has been incredibly valuable. We have 3 BMW's in our empty nest - a 2006 Z4M (my plaything) , a 2007 E93 (wife's toy) and a 2018 X3 M40i (grandkid hauler). People say - "how can you afford to keep them running?". My response is - I do the maintenance!

Forums like this make that possible, whether it's a variable valve timing sensor on a 328 (my wife panicked when she saw the entire top of the engine scattered about the garage) or figuring out why the AUX input on a Z4 cuts out on hot days (ground loop isolator issue).

I haven't contributed much to this forum - other than advice on fabric top maintenance - but have certainly benefited from the collective experience of the forum members.
