What did you use to tint the headlights?

That looks awesome! You should get some 2.5 headlights, they have black plastic on the inside instead of silver.

The negative on the black housing headlights is that the clear white turn signals are still too bright on them, meaning you might still have to tint that anyway to make it look right...

Not to cause offence and this is not specifically aimed at you but for transportation you may prefer some aftermarket customization, and go right ahead if you want bottom dollar for your car in 10 years. What you think makes your car stand out today and cool will make it blend in with every other junky used car in a decade or two.

An original car in top shape always stands out when it's as it left the factory. Even an untrained eye recognizes it's originality, and having all the original parts adds to the impression of "showroom condition."

I know it takes restraint to keep your hands off, especially with a performance car like a Z4-MC, but your restraint will pay back handsomely in later years, as well as in your own appreciation.

Start swapping things out and you wind up with a car half made in China or Inglewood, CA. Leave it alone and you still have a great German car. Remember, collectors (and most people) want a new car as BMW made it; not one that you've personalized for yourself any more than they want your graffiti on their fence.

That's like saying you should stay in shape now so years later when you're lieing in an open casket during your own funeral people don't think you're fat.

Who cares what others think then? And how many of us actually keep a car for more than 4~6 years?

Coming from someone who actually went through the hassles to bling out his stock wheels? Because chrome or polished-out wheels on a bimmer don't scream out ghetto?

I used a film purchased from Aero Tect. I buy the film in bulk and free hand it on the car. They have 3 different shades, light, medium, and dark.

lol. So I take this to mean you plan on keeping this car for decades then right? I mean, why would any of this matter if you aren't planning on keeping it until it might actually be a classic one day?

Personally, I will probably buy a new car in 2-3 years when this one is paid off. At that point, I will put the stock parts back on and sell it, unless someone wants it as is.

While I agree that mods won't necessarily add value to a car during resale, there is no reason that any of us couldn't just put the car back to stock to sell it. It's simply ridiculous to say that we should not mod cars so that we can sell it easier several years later...

To your point of:

"What you think makes your car stand out today and cool will make it blend in with every other junky used car in a decade or two."

You do realize that chrome wheels are out of style and have been for quite some time now, right? Those definitely will not help your resale, even if they are stock. Sports cars with chrome wheels are a big negative...

Car looks great, love the wheels and tint. I wouldve actually gone darker on the headlights because they look purplish.

And to anile8, from the looks of it all his mods can be undone quite easily. Not so true for yours. You may want to consider the resale value of your vehicle in about 10 years. Someone whos looking to buy it will want the car the way BMW designers wanted it, not what you envisioned.
