Think of your car with another 100hp and stiffer suspension, better brakes, hydraulic steering and the fattest steering wheel in all autodom. Thats the joy of M.
Drive one and report back... |

A local BMW dealer had one for sale with the same color scheme as mine. I wish I had gone in to test drive it, but it was sold before I could go. I'll keep my eyes out for another one. It has to be an awesome car.

A great drivers car and your passion shows through in the video! Get yourself a BMW ZHP shift knob and you'll enjoy that manual shifting experience even more (as well as your E90).

I drove an M and still bought a 2.5. Everything the M has to offer has no use on the public roads where the speed limit is 25MPH on the street and 65MPH on the highway. The regular Z4 has a smoother ride, handles better in the street and gets better gas mileage. The harsh ride of the M in the street is just awful. You will never get to enjoy the benefits of the M unless you go to the track. Waste of money as far as I am concerned. |

Sounds like someone has buyer's remorse...
And here I am trying to add a supercharger because the M isn't enough power anymore... To each their own.

Now guys let’s all play nice. I think we simply have someone who is perfectly happy with their Z4 2.5i as it meets their needs nicely. For others the Z4M is the best fit. .

Everyone has a different purpose, circumstances, budgets and list goes on... in other words whatever floats your boat. There is ALWAYS something better than what you have. There is no end to these discussions...
OP, good job on the videos. Your review was a good one I thought. Pretty thorough. |

There's plenty of uses with the extra power on public roads - Take it on a road trip and how you wish you got those extra horses and more while making safe passes on slow pokes on single lane roads. My friend almost got into a head-on collision because some prick in a pick up truck wouldn't let him pass as he sped up along side during a passing attempt in his Veloster. There's never enough POWAHHHHH. It's funny how I felt the MC got plenty of power when I first got it, but now a freaking Camry/Accord can give it a good run. I need more POWAHHHHH. I would love to supercharge it if I wasn't living in this socialist state Last edited by XMetal; 05-08-2020 at 12:59 PM.. |

While I totally respect anyone preferring a standard Z4 over the M car, to say the M car's additional performance capabilities are of "no use" on public roads is just absurd. But neither choice is wrong, personal preference is what it is, and it'd great to be able to have that choice. You bought the car that was right for your needs and preferences and that's totally cool.

...and then, should you go get the Z06...there would be that ZR1 driver, waiting in the wings...quickly posting to tell you about what you're missing because you somehow managed to settle for the clearly lesser vehicle.

Looks like we have the same exact mindset buddy. When I first bought the M I was ecstatic with the extra power I had... but now I'm itching for more and this ridiculous state makes it impossible to have any automotive fun.

I do not need anyone to tell me what I should buy. I care only about my own feelings in regards to my cars. I didn’t buy my Z because somebody told me to but because I love its precision and rawness so much that most other cars have completely faded in my eyes after I tried the Z. Except Z06 which is an animal of its own. It’s very different from Z but it’s awesome and addicting..

I've had a Z4 3.0si with 255 HP, a Z4M with 333 HP, and a 328i with 230 HP. Loved them all. Heck, my 55 HP Mini Cooper was a hoot. Horsepower is just one aspect of driving enjoyment.

This is true and totally agree with you. As a car enthusiast, if you enjoy it, that's all it matters. I'm not saying horsepower is everything. I just disagree with the statement "Everything the M has to offer has no use on the public roads where the speed limit is 25MPH on the street and 65MPH on the highway". If we all buy cars for sensible and logical reasons, no one would ever own a Z4!

To respond to your first statement: A Prius is not a convertible, and it does not have the look that I want. So that rules that out. Your second statement: The fact is, the 2.5 Z4 has more than enough power to easily pass any slow poke on the road. I did it all day today on the highway with no issues. As for your friend who almost got into a head on collision, well the truth is- he is a bad driver. Don't blame the car...blame the person behind the wheel. As for POWAHHHH...it is of no use if you can't use it and since you live in a socialist state...(your words), you will never ever use it. In conclusion, you can soup your car up with a K&N air filter, a free flowing Magna-drone exhaust and a super Duper super charger that puts out a bazillion horsepower ...and as long as you are on the public roads with speed limits and traffic...none of that will ever be of use. Well, since you're the one that doesn't have a supercharger, wouldn't that make you the one with buyer's remorse? Clearly you bought the wrong car. As for the M not having enough power, in what driving situation are you experiencing this 'lack of power'? You will run out of driving skills long before you run out of power.
