Looking at the Foxwell NT510 Elite
https://www.ebay.ca/itm/115394404379...1&isGTR=1#shId
I hate to admit it but without someone holding my hand I can't even load INPA much less use it to diagnose and correct problems. I have buddies that are fluent at INPA and they have helped me in the past but I don't like imposing on others. So I'm thinking about getting the Foxwell NT510 Elite to replace my Creator C501, the C501 is a good little unit but it doesn't let me reset anything. Schwaben has a version made by Foxwell that I think is basically the same. https://www.ecstuning.com/b-schwaben...020sch01a~scf/ Anyone have or have used the NT510 before? Any recommendations on a better unit? Thanks

Why no ISTA+ is much easier than INPA and you can do anything, plus has TIS built in

The Foxwell NT530 is the updated version of the 510 , it use to be that if you ordered the NT510 from Foxwell you received the NT530. Now just order the NT530. It works well and support is available. Buy direct

After a lot of hunting in the past 24hrs I realize what I really need is not another diagnostic tool but one that will let me reset programs and clear adaptations.
As Maupineda says, ISTA+. I see that that Foxwell says the NT510 does some of that but when I read the 1 star reviews of that unit there's quite number of people saying there are a lot of problems communicating with the ECU and virtually no support from the company. I think I'm going to have to find someone local and pay them to download it for me and set it up on my laptop so I just have to push the ON button. As a dedicated DIYer I hang my head in shame.

Make sure you get the “switchable” cable… so you can work on pre face lift cars as well as post face lift vehicles. There is a difference in the wiring…..

I'm not sure if it matters at this point as it sounds like you have decided.
I own the Foxwell NT510 Elite (it was on amazon for less than $80). It is a nice unit that can do way more than just clear codes. It can activate the ABS motor, check ABS sensor, adjust steering angle sensor and much more. I used it while troubleshooting my ABS, Traction Control, TPMS issue. It could NOT clear the final code to get ALL the light off, but I was close, the shop only charged me for 30 minutes labor to clear it. It stays in the trunk now in case I need to troubleshoot on the road. It lives beside my tire plug kit and air compressor. Tye |

I have the nt510. It’s fine for reading codes , but falls short on other features. Connectivity is inconsistent and I cannot get it to reset my steering angle. It will display the steering angle in live view, but says no connectivity to reset the angle…

That's what many of the one star rating buyers said, it sounds a lot like the capabilities of the Creator C501 that I have now, a good unit but limited.

Has anyone used both the schwaben and the nt510. I haven’t experienced any communication issues as of yet and haven’t had to reset steering angle and I’ve viewed it before in live view just in navigating to learn different things but if it’s an issue on the schwaben too that’d be good to know prior to running into it for freak out.
the schwaben has been very helpful the times I’ve had battery drains in resetting the anti theft mode that kills the fuel pump. Nothing like cranking to no start up avail. |

the NT710 works well too...knowing the codes has dropped my blood pressure quite a bit.

Looked at the pictures in “close”… and don’t see a switch to select pre or post facelift…
Also doesn’t state such in the tech info supplied. Z4 switch date to new wiring connector (2 pins switched) was in ‘07 and likely applied to all BMW models. I say this as my son and I shared the $500 cost to get two dongles and cable (switchable) that the ISTAD and ISTAP program was supplied with. You can now download for free these days. Not so in the early days when it became available. For those getting portable scanners… ease of use does not mean ease of diagnosing… especially when the ISTAD has test procedures imbedded in the software to chase down a fault code etc down to the point of measuring the actual resistance of a connector. Compare that to just being told you have a code…. No comparison ….
