How does the alpha n map affect drivability? Does it rev smoother or more eagerly? Noticeable owner gains?

Found it on E-bay some time ago. Would send you the link, but they do not seem to be listed right now. Should not be too hard to find.

The only issue, if one wants to call it an issue, is a slight revving (some call it hunting) at idle when the engine is started from cold. It quickly goes away as warm-up begins. Otherwise, the car is as smooth and drivable as it always was. Except for the sound, which is awesome and regulated by the right side pedal.

The power gain is noticeable but have not measured it on a dyno, yet. Did all of these mods (Euro headers & cats, airbox and tune) at the same time. Some report that the total gain might be as high as 40+ whp, but we'll have to wait and see.

Does it only hunt when cold starting when you apply brake pressure? Mine just hunts with brakes on. Does sound quite throaty when cold started and smell rich but I think it's an awesome smell, kinda motorsporty?!

40hp should be doable, mine was 30hp just the box and tune, csl headers should add 5-6 and cats similar?

Haven't noticed it when applying brake pressure. And it is not that throaty when starting. May be due to the relatively mild climate here.

And yes, that is how I tallied my expectations for the whp gain. The dyno should tell the truth.

It shouldn't have a bouncing rev when cold unless you apply the brakes....

Ha-ha. Mild here means daytime highs 65-70 F, overnight lows upper 40's to lower 50's.

It's on the evolve website think it's 2750 delivered to the uk

So that's like 3800 dollars? Plus import tax minus discount?

Naw, the latest currency trade has 1.63 dollars per pound, so its more like $4400 which was the price they quoted me shipped.

They offer the following:

Gloss or Matte Finish
1x1 or 2x2 CF Weave

For the record, OE CSL is Gloss 2x2

The N/A descent into hell

Thanks a lot guys!

I really need something better to do other than read these forums.

Just pulled the trigger on the airbox, which means come February (hopefully if the part ships by then):

Schrick 288/280 cams go on, CSL airbox installed... for the ultimate NA beast:

+ current Fabspeed headers, DKF section 1, RPI GT tail-pipes, Dinan 3.91 rear diff = going to need a GT3 or greater if expecting a point-by (even then that may be suspect)

Don't worry, as per my previous thread, and new coffee machine...more extra-shifts mean the BBK is going on as well to complete the madness !

Congratulations. Will be interested to see how the cams add to the overall package. Had the chance to put my setup on the EAS dyno recently. With Euro headers + Euro cats, the Evolve plenum and tune it made ~318 whp. The shop said that bone stock Z4M's and E46 M3's typically generate 270-280 whp. using the same relationship (+/- 85%) this points to somewhere around 375 hp on the flywheel.

Please keep us informed!
