Final update from me, was able to snatch the last glass in US for $240 from the dealer. After transporting it with 30+ layers of bubble wrap to my buddy's house, we started the repair process on Sunday. Taking the door panel off was very straight forward and easy but then had to clean up the inside of the door from all the pieces of glass. NOT FUN! there were literally a million little pieces and the shop vac hose was too big for all the nooks and crannies to fit. 2 hours later, we got most of the pieces off and was able to install the new glass fairly easily. Put the car away at my buddy's garage for the rest of the season hoping for the crackhead to move away from the area when I get the car out again next spring.
I was going to say the same thing - the broken glass is the worst part of all that! I had to open a door back up twice after install because another tiny piece would shake loose a few months later and it sliding around drove me nuts!

So hard to get it all out - we built some pretty crazy shop vac attachments for that project......... lol

The other brands always had the newer "cool" tech features but none could match the range of the v1... but that's not the case anymore. I switched over to the Uniden R3 and think it's the best RD I've owned so far (RX65 s7, 9500ci, V1, and Passport Max2). The range is unbelievable on the R3... sometimes I think it's picking up a false signal but sure enough you see the cop 2 mins later lol.

Ya that's what I was googling the other day to see what to replace V1 with. I didn't want to go get another one. I will look into R3 which was actually on sale a few days ago

Lol ok, so gather the v1 is a radar detector... We don't really have those back home anymore since they are outlawed. Glad you got your glass sorted mate. Good job well done.

Same here. Wanted to get a detector for my wife's car, but don't want another V1 because no GPS. Wanted something with arrows just because I had gotten so used to having them. Always feels like I'm missing something whenever I'm in my DD that has the RX65. Almost got the MAX360 until I read all the threads about lockups on all the MAX360 variants. I will wait for the updated R3 with arrows, which I've heard should be out anytime now

The V1 is prone to extra alerts but that's OK by me - better than the converse of ignoring potential sources. I talked to them about updating my old unit and they said it probably wasn't worth doing as I wouldn't use most of the new functionality offered.

I have a dedicated Blendmount bracket in my Z4MC for the V1, but I never leave the unit visible in the car when I leave it. You can be away for 1 minute and come back to a smashed window.

My daily driver has an on board concealed Escort product - it is nice not to have to conceal anything when you leave the car, but the price precludes doing that with more than one car (the V1 floats between the other 4 cars we have).

Very shitty situation, sorry to hear, but glad it got sorted out.

Offtopic:
Is your left rear rim bent or just a flaw in the picture?
