I definitely think having a "theme" for the month works... still bitterly cold and snowy out in the east. But once spring time rolls around it's something I will coordinate as well.

"Theme" photo contests are a great idea!

But I suggest care in selecting the topic. For example, a "track photos" theme may be a bit restrictive. I have no desire to track my car, nor do I have access to a track. A more general heading, such as "action shots" would allow the track enthusiasts - and the rest of us to submit photos for that month's contest.

Now if you ever have a contest for "best pic of a car at a rocky beach scene with an iceberg floating majestically in the background", I'll probably score highly there!

I'll keep this in mind, but keep the idea flowing guys. I'm thinking by end of year, I might compile these into a calendar depending on the interest. And whatever months I'm missing, I'll fill with the theme photos.

how did you accomplish that shot?! there are two light sources... from the left is sunlight. is the light from the right coming from a reflection off a wall? or headlights from a second vehicle?

What a great collection of shots...

Okay, other ideas/themes:

Seasons: like a fall month, winter month, etc.

Conditions: snow, clouds, sun, rain, dawn, dusk, night, etc.

Action: car in motion (already suggested).

View: "ass", side, front, above, low, 1960s Batman (odd camera angles).

Multiples: more than one Z4.

Parts: wheels, exhaust--must focus on s parts theme (anything goes but must highlight a part).

haha thanks! Credit has to go to my photography buddies though. They shoot my car for me whenever they're free/bored lol
For this particular shot, my friend was experimenting with lighting. We used plenty of light stands which strobe upon each click of the camera. For next month's submission, I might use the "behind-the-scenes" shot that I have and you'll get to see his secret


P.S. I REALLY like Finnegan's suggestion. This seems like a really fun community activity ^_^

Not to get too ahead of ourselves but I'm already receiving submissions for March so I'll keep it as a general submission. But I'm thinking for April, as suggested by Huz-Z, I'll limit it to Action shots... track, auto-x, drift, canyon carving, sick rolling shots, anything and everything as long as the Z is moving!
