The main reason you want to keep dust shield is keep heat away from upper and lower outer control arms bushings.

I prefer to keep my rotors a bit cooler at the track without the dust shield. I have PF01, Gulf RF1000 fluid, brass bushings and SS lines with OEM calipers and the pedal go deeper and deeper as the session goes. I am able to stop the car before the next curve but the feeling kinda sucks.
