So far it looks like you really can't go wrong with either 3.91 or 4.10.

That has determined for me my first drivetrain mod. Best bang for the buck mod BY FAR.
Is there ANY downsides in terms of reliability with putting a 3.91 or 4.10 in?

For me I reviewed my shift points for the tracks which I frequented most and ultimately settled on 3.73 on my previous coupe which was ~8.5% increase from the stock 3.46.

Yes I realize the gearing differences, my point was it came down to shift points on a road course when determining my gearing choice. What may work best on street may not be well suited for the tracks he frequents most.

Thanks Ti, yeah mate, I've looked at the shift points, and ill be running final somewhere in between 4.10 and 3.91 due to running 19's with 35/30's on my car. I am normally in 3rd going around turn one, and ill envision still being in third around turn one, albiet 350rpm higher and hopefully will hold that till the end of turn one.
will see, I have however thought about it. Ive also thought about that on the international Cxt, we have 2 long straights, where I struggle as it seems the top 2 gears just seem to go on forever, so will hopefully see a nice change there too. I am really looking forwards to the change, but the whole diff refurb (might as well while I am there) is costing more in bits and pieces than I thought. Awell, its all a learning thing. think ive blown my birthday present from my missus already though. lol I ummed and arred a lot WW about 3.91 or 4.10.. I just love the way my car looks on 19's and will keep those, so that's why I went with 4.10, that and my tracks do look like it will serve the higher ratios well here. You know what, I could be way wrong, that's true too, but I am grinning to find out. No SC in my future, so staying NA, and I think 4.10 will be a good match for that anyways.

So when I was a young man I was into the street drag racing scene and I don't condone that anymore. I still do appreciate street rods though. Having said that in my experience the quickest and cheapest way to get quicker was a set of gears. Going from 3.73 to 4.10, 4.11 or 4.56 made a shocking distance. I recall after getting a set of 4.56 gears having a stop light run with a Yamaha 650 and taking him to the next set of lights......the trade off was my highway speed was limited to about 50-55 mph because of the change in cruising RPM. So the answer is what is your application and be aware of the trade offs.
My car originally had a 3.36 I think, I ended up going back to a 3.73 as it was the most all around drivable set up, still quick but you could travel at reasonable highway speed. |

On the front straight heading into turn 1, I don't even get into 6th, with this, hopefully my top speed before hitting the anchors for turn 1 will let me up through 200 In 6th. hoping..lol I am really looking forwards to this. (Not a road car, track only)

4.10 has been good fun for me on street & track, would do it all over again 1st and 2nd are still absolutely usable, 3rd pulls like 2nd used to, and even 4th gear has some balls now. You do notice the RPMs, but I would counter that high revs and more shifting make the drive even more exciting lol. This was my DD until recently, it’s not unlivable
