I highly recommend this mod. Cheap, quick and noticeable results!
What tire size and tire type are you autoxing in? I am completely stock but I am running 245/45/18 on stock rims square setup on Dunlop Star Specs. I still have a little understeer unless the speeds are higher in autox. I need new tires and plan to do this mod so I was wondering is having some front camber would allow me to go wider in back and still dial out the understeer. I was planning on 245/40/18 front and 255/45/18 rear star specs.

Almost at the end of the first day at NCCAR. My alignment settings are a big improvement over the old ones. The first session with a track temp of 70', front tire pressures of 34 and rear of 31 made the rear of the car skiddish. Forgot to check temps when I came off. Second session is now hotter and the car does not have a tendency to oversteer as much. Checked pressures and they were 43 front and 41 rear. Brought them down 2 psi each. Third session even better still.
Ome more session today. A complete writeup when I get back Sunday night.

I would get new tires and then get the alignment. If you get an alignment and then change the height of the tires, your toe will be off. You could probably get away without one but in my opinion it is worth the money for the alignment not to mess up a new set of tires.

Moving to those tires, the difference in diameter would be:
One inch larger in the front and .3 of an inch larger in the rear.

Why wouldn't you run 275 star specs in the rear? That is the size everyone else is running.

I got my sizes wrong, 245/40 front, 255/35 or 265/35 rear.

These tires will only be for Autox only, I have a set of stock street tires I drive on daily. I am running 245/45 square now for autox only because I already had the tires from another car, but when I did go to this square setup it did reduce understeer.

Why not 275 rear? If I run 245 front and 275 rear then I have not reduced stagger so understeer should still be present. Keep in mind I am mainly running autox on these these tires so speeds are mainly 2nd gear with some 3rd gear, if I was running track then it would be 3rd gear and 4th and at higher speeds the understeer starts to go away.

If adjusting my camber to around -2 to -2.5 will allow me to run a 265 or 275 rear and still dial out the understeer in autox that would be fantastic because I could put down more power without breaking traction. I do realize my current 245 rear is a little small for a 333hp car.

Just hoping some of you guys have experienced this scenario so I can order the correct size I need.

Thanks.

I'm already running 245's front and 275's rear.

-1.8 Camber in front, -3.0 camber in rear.

Minor rubbing in the front, but I'm thinking this camber shimming would fix that.

To get -3.0 camber on the rear, are you using adjustable camber arms?

No, the BMW dealership was able to push it out to -3.0 on their alignment machine.
Not sure how they did it, but my camber arms are factory and non adjustable.

Might have to do with the coilovers I have? The car is lowered on KW V2 shocks and custom springs.

So -3.0 is the lowest neg camber you can set?

Typically, you should have more neg camber up front than rear, if possible.
do you need the -3.0 to clear the 275s?

I am not so lucky. The max the BMW shop was able to get on my rears were -2.0.

Why are you pushing for so much negative camber on the rear?

275s fit fine without add'l camber in the rear on oem wheels.

IMO shim stock is overkill.
With manufacturing tolerances, both sides will never be equal.
To fine tune the camber it will still need adjusting at the top.
Went to my local hardware store and I was only able to find the bolts with M12 25mm but 8.8 instead of 10.9. Will they work?

Absolutely not!

You need to find an industrial hardware supply.
If you don't have access to one, just order from Turner.

Sorry, I just noticed you live north of the 49th as well.
What part of the country are you in?

In Toronto, I got mine from Brafasco.
I think they're a national chain.

I'm running 18x9.5 rims out back and the 275's give a nice rubber lip around the rims to keep them from getting curbed.

I was getting rubbing initially, but the car seems to have sorted itself out over time. Hitting a few bumps inadvertantly rolled my fenders for me and I raised the coilovers a little to help with that. The negative camber definately helps too.

I'm still getting some rubbing from the fronts from hard cornering, but again, the fenders rolled themselves a little but I'm going to try shimming the front to get more negative camber and maybe raise the suspension a tad to help with that as well.

I ran an autox with the new settings yesterday (and newer tires). Felt good, it was on a slick surface (sealed asphalt) but I ran faster and beat a few people I usually do not beat. This saturday I will be on rought asphalt and higher speeds so we will see how it does. If anything tire wear should be much better.

jbh what did your camber/toe settings end up being? I thought I saw it in a post elsewhere but I can't find it now.
