How much is the battery from BMW?
My MCoupe just ran out of juice this morning
I know that replacing the battery on your own will wipe all your memory such as navigation and radio, but I don't have much saved anyways, so I don't mind. I wanted to know, however, how much BMW sells their batteries for. Thanks in advance for any help on this topic! |

^WHS.
Ours crapped out and needed AAA jump back in November. Ran the CTEK on deep cycle "restore" and it's been great ever since. |

I bought a battery at the dealer just a couple weeks ago. It was only $143.20, after my BMWCCA discount at the Dealer. List price was $179.

Did you run that directly on the battery terminals or from the posts under the hood? I need to run a restore to see if I can revive my weakening battery for a little longer.

i replaced my own battery recently and if it wiped anything i didn't notice. radio presets were there, a couple of nav bookmarks, that kind of thing. the only thing i had to do was reset the date and time.

when mine dies, I'll be replacing it ONLY with a lightweight battery. Oddysey pc680 or a Deka ETX16
both are about 16lbs, vs 40lbs stock

Used the posts under the hood. Could connect directly, but it wasn't necessary. Unless you've got a poor charger and are worried about spikes or "noise" into the other electronics it s/b okay.

Hey I have a Schauer 10amp sportsman deep cycle battery charger. and it has an automatic shut off timer on it. Would this charger work the same as your CTEK chargers? and if so, how long should I set the time?

Sorry, I really have no clue. The CTEK is fully automated--detects charge capability, cycles the charge, then runs in "trickle mode". You just leave it connected and it keeps a full charge--no need for timers.
Maybe someone else has experience with timed chargers. |

In my case my battery dies every 3-4 days. I get a boast and it's ok for a couple of days and then won't start. Would a recharge help in this case or would I need a new battery?

I've developed what most would call an obsession for carbon fiber and my battery is due for a change soon so naturally I'm looking at the CF ones. Its hard to find good information on them.

Not sure how much this gets talked about here but the Optima batteries are pretty good. I think they are AGM so they have a pretty good life. I've been using a yellow top for years to run some of my Hurricane Emergency equipment during power outages.
Anyway, just something else to consider. |

This exact thing happens to me. I think I'm just gonna get an AGM from O'Reilly's down the street.
