The acrylic itself will hides the seals & mount locations, right? I don't see the purpose the dot matrix served other than cosmetic?

Original Equipment Manufacturers utilize the screened on "Dot Matrix" as a method to do three things.>>

1)- Give the glass panes a transitional coloring hue so as not to be such a harsh visual break in the cars lines- ( from paint color to glass, for example).

2)- The black color hides all adhesives, substructures etc very well without the need for added trims.

3)- Dot matrix is visually easier to ignore as opposed to a abrupt hard line that draws your eyes to the obvious.

In the case of this project....I must do it to blend in the cars current status....if I didn't , my roofs would appear more under engineered and more aftermarket than I could accept.

I have a rear hatch glass coming to mold a OEM fitment Polycarbonate rear lightweight glass replacement as we type. But still in the works/details.

If need be...you can also re-install OEM glass....but its also heavy...if weight is indeed your goal.
I am very intrested in saving weight, I would like one, can you give me a price quatation for a fiberglas and Carbon one? Can you ship it?
I live in the Netherlands.
I would like to purchage the polycarbonate glass replacement as well when you can deliver them.

Jan

well.... like many others, I just can't stay away from this thread.
I've been thinking about the rear hatch.

If done in clearcoat CF;
The area I'm having trouble with is where the extended A pillar above the doors meets the hatch.
That transition really breaks up the flow.

Any thought about doing something with that A pillar piece. Is it even feasible.

Funny you mention that Ian. I had mentioned to Bob (IMZ4N)...that I had planned on overlaying that whole pillar with cf.
Maybe I should look further into molding them as a removable cap ? If its thin enough , it could just snap into place and use a drop or two of silicone for speeds above 100+.
Jesus....I'll never get any rest,lol.
