I will certainly do that. For now picture the current roof shape, but glossy translucent tinted.

Oh it will look amazing for sure. But moreover, it will FEEL amazing as your driving !

I'm using the same CF substructure frame as I do for the CF roofs to keep them strong and light. Stainless fasteners.

just trying to get an idea of what kind of spare parts I may need when i'm installing mine.

Absolutely no tipping of the panel until all sealant is separated or it can place dents in the skin.
Let me clear, while the wire technique WILL work, I recommend using the more modern tool approach which requires use of a vibrating multitool. Such as the $79.00 Porter Cable brand. Ian and I both did our removals this way with ease. We finished up each corner with a long thin knife for the backside if the bolt areas. The front and sides were all managed from inside the cabin. The rear, from the hatch opening/trunk. It is not difficult. Nor is the headliner removal. Just ask Ian. It was his first time too.

Any progress? I'm getting jealous of our cf roof counterparts.

Ditto. Can't wait to drive up and get mine from you when it's done, Twisted. :-D

(Also, I know this is at least six months out as your PM stated. No need for a response. Keep busy at the shop!)

you know you'd want a removable moonroof!! 2 options in 1, can see the starts at night, the beautiful sky in the day, feel the wind in your hair, will look good w/the tinted top during the day, and great resale value. This will be one of the best, if not the best mod for the Z4.

Thats if Twisted still plans on doing the removable option.

Where do you guys always find these funny gif. files, lol.

Progress is still being made for the clear roofs. Dialing in some optics distortion currently.

I am still planning on working through the re-usable seal. That is much harder to design and prototype than I'd imagined originally.

Twisted,

Please keep on pushing with the removable roof option..

This turns our cars into a T-top, best of both worlds...

Patiently waiting .. oh yeah.. and saving! Please keep us posted!

I can't remember if you talked about this but do you project the moonroof to weigh in less than the stock roof?

Patiently waiting on this as well. Not particular about having a reusable seal option as it would remain permanently a targa for me. Thanks for all the efforts in this!

What roof options are actually currently available right now?

for some reason my roof's paint is completely fucked (the clearcoat is coming off REAL bad) and I am trying to look at my options.

Either just repaint, or get a flat black or carbon fiber wrap put on it, or look at these options. But it seems like they have all been "in the works" for the past 2 years.

What options are actually purchasable?

Good question.I view this item more in the luxury category and haven't been as concerned with weight loss. But the goal is to remain at stock weight of the alloy roof or possibly below. This is tough. I could have rushed this to market but it would have been heavy and utilizing an lesser material.

Thanks. No problem permanently fastening this roof.

I've not heard of anyones OEM finish going bad or delaminating yet. The Cf roofs are in current production and shipping. Are you on the list of buyers yet?

Understandable, but the CF roof is more than a cosmetic only mod. This Moonroof is luxury, not performance oriented.

I see no way to meet the same weight goals for this roof as I have in the CF panels. I'm certainly trying......but plastics are heavier by far than CF of the same thickness.
Plus, I doubt anyone will have any issues selling their CF roof to an interested buyer who'll want to side step the line/wait.

More to come...........

Twisted, I just thought of a question today. Are you planning on having the M contours on the moonroof or will it have the shape of the non-M roof? I can't remember if you covered this anywhere before.

There is no specific M roof. Its either a coupe or a roadster. Perhaps your thinking of a non M hood being without the raised body lines? The coup roofs are all the same. Double bubble aluminum.

Sigh…you're right. I was thinking of the hood. I had a 3.0si before my M so now I feel like an idiot. Thanks for the info!
