Original beige extended on my '06 E86.
Wrapped the aluminum trim with leather, added armrests and dyed everything black and cinnamon. Painted plastic trim black and dyed the carpet. Completely transformed.

Thanks! I'm not sure why I haven't seen any others who've wrapped their aluminum or wood trim pieces with leather dyed to match their seats. It might be a bit much with red seats or too monochromatic with black seats - but I like it with the cinnamon brown.
Not seen in the photo: I also wrapped the door to the rear console storage pocket with the same cinnamon leather and mounted a dual usb charge port in place of the SOS switch.

I'd like to see a photo of that mod, if you can.

Nice! If you haven't already, post a thread about how you did that mod.

I appreciate the compliments - I wasn't sure how wrapping the aluminum trim pieces with leather was going to turn out but I'm mostly pleased with the result.
If I had more patience, I'd have had some contrasting black stitching done on the dash pieces and the cinnamon portions of the door cards - but I have zero patience (plus, the car is my daily so it couldn't be out of service for more than a weekend at a time) so, no stitching. I didn't originally intend to change out the entire interior (just the door cards, aluminum trim and dye the seats) but all the beige interior trim pieces looked like ass after I dyed the doors/seats - so everything came out to get painted. If the sun comes out later today, I'll add some more interior shots.

Now I've started to do more research and have discovered a whole new world out there in paint and dye. Can't wait to get started on ours. |
