What piece do you plan to work on next? Looks like this one is nearing completion...
I'm going to finish this completely before moving on.
I hope to get the f/g lay ups done next week then paint and properly mounted.

Side sills will be next.
Then rear quarter and diffuser.
I'm excited to see it all when its complete and installed. Should be one badass kit.

I like the idea of color matching to the car. Or a Carbon look. May depend on vehicle paint color to make the choice.

Basically if I had to imagined the perfect front aero solution for our cars this is exactly what would come to mind.... Well done sir!

I have been running your front filler piece for the apr splitter for years now..... finally after years of abuse it has cracked a little in the center. I think it is sign now that you might make a couple of these.

Thanks

At one point I was thinking about something a little more simple.
Same basic lip shape but without the vertical sections on the wheel wells, and then run canards to cover off the the front tires.
It was the GT3 that provided the idea to attempt the fully integrated look.

This product needs to be painted gloss black and be called "The Abe Lincoln."

I know what you mean. Though I doubt I would have gotten rid of my car, this forum definitely helps keep it fresh and exciting. It's easy to move on to the latest and greatest, especially when this car has such limited aftermarket support, but the number of dedicated people on here definitely make up for that. And with our cars being 10 years old now, the fact that we'd rather keep what we have speaks volumes for both the excellence that is the Z4M as well as the quality of forum members.

Thanks to everyone here, my ownership of my vehicle has helped me become vastly more knowledge, more willing to try things out for myself, and more involved than I ever thought I could be.

Thanks Guys, I appreciate the comments.
I've been away from this for a while with other things.
I'll be into full swing with this again this week.

epoxy infusion and f/g layups are next.
I'll also be doing a mockup for a couple of canards

This is--wow--I can't fully describe it!

Yes, I see the GT3 influence. It works so well here!

Great stuff--keep it coming!

When I first hit up this thread, I'm like, "whomever this guy in the USA is, he's doing some great work. I wish I lived closer. Just fantastic stuff....."

Then I correspond with this same guy on another thread and the fog that surrounds me starts to lift........ but in a very slow way. Eventually all the pieces fit together and it dawns on me he's only 1/2 hour away from my house.

Update #3 f/g layups

Things have been moving a little slower than expected.
Things like track days etc keep getting in the way

Here are a few updates of the f/g layups

1. Dry weight with everything trimmed and ready for f/g
I'm pretty happy with the weight, but already have ideas to reduce further....

2. f/g layups started with bottom sides first

3. top side

4. after f/g layups have cured 1 day, 2nd coat of epoxy resin applied.

5. 3rd coat of epoxy resin applied and cured, ready for sanding and painting (kind of a shame to cover these up )

I'm moving right into painting this week, so next update should be a little quicker

There use to be this guy I knew that would make FG molds of anything you wanted. I did a lot of small aircraft stuff mainly. He was out of this old barn in Oak Ridges just north of Richmond Hill. He would have been the perfect guy for you to start replicating these beautiful parts......

Where are you getting your supplies from? You know about the plastics place just north of Yorkdale right???
