Suggestion on N52 headers

Hello Z folks

Since Ontario Canada have no more emission control I decide to upgrade headers on my engine. Need you advise on what should I go with for my N52 3.0si engine headers
Brand, price.

Best regards

Andrey, I also think SS are the only ones that are made for the Z4. Others have adapted E90 headers but require some fab.

SS header not cheap.

Andrey, just as an FYI I have used Schmeidman in Europe for a few parts in the past with great results both in communication and speed of shipping. Most of the Z4 parts from SS are made to order due to the limited market and Schmeidman has a direct line to the factory in Italy.

Not cheap but they have deals on occasionally also.
I paid zero duties when I bought my section 2 and silencer

Wow! Good for Ontario!

"Ontario is cancelling the Drive Clean passenger vehicle program and avoiding taxpayers costs up to $40 million a year." ...
"While Drive Clean effectively reduced vehicle pollution, auto industry standards have significantly improved since the program was created in 1999 making this program no longer necessary."

Too bad I'm in Ontario California.

I have the supersprints on my N52 and they are crafted beautifully but they 100% do not come with flanges to mate to the rest of the cat back exhaust. I believe they were designed to be fitted with all supersprint exhaust components. So you still will need a bit a fab work to mate them to the complete exhaust system.

So it seems to me headers change won't be enough since they not made them as direct swap for our exhaust ?

Sounds that way. I do not have SS headers.
You may not want to run catless. Could not stand the smell honestly when first putting the headers on.

What I ended up doing is buying the Magnaflow section 1, cutting off the flanges and clamping slip flanges on to the ends to match the header flanges.

From there I used the SS section 2 with 2 into 1 - 3" and silencer.

I had SS headers on my n52. Loved the bump in power but 2 things to keep in mind. Unless you spring for their section 1, it won’t mate up to your oe pipes in PnP way. Though it shouldn’t be difficult for any decent exhaust shop to fab something up.

Secondly, I don’t know if it was software or the physical location of the bungs but for longest time I had a fluctuating idle (and it definitely was not due to a vac leak). Ultimately I installed an o2 sim for separate reasons related to my tune but that actually eliminated most it not all of my idle issues.

The odor from catless is mostly noticeable when you’re sitting at a light but if you retain your factory secondary cats (section 1), it shouldn’t be that bad. Can’t confirm because I went full catless day 1 but I’ve sat in E90’s that did have their secondaries still intact and it was really tolerable. Also for sound reasons alone I’d keep the secondaries else you’ll probably have some drone.

I’m thinking of getting these headers for my E92 N52. $599 and from others’ posts in IG, they do a good job, high quality welds, sound good, and give a good power increase. Now sure if they’d fit the Z4.
