Back to bmw from porsche
I drove the z4m roadster 4 years ago and loved it and though it was a monster, somewhat challenging to drive ( you had to keep all senses alert when pushing the car). I said hmm let me drive a porsche, drove a new 2015 boxster gts 6mt and bought it the next day. After 4 years I only drove the Boxster 12 k miles and my wife kept on saying that I need to buy a car that I will actually drive, which made sense.
Sold the boxster to a collector and had sellers remorse for 2 months. just got a Z4m roadster with less than 45K miles on it and I love it. Boxster was too easy to drive and I hated the fact that 2nd gear hit 84mph and it was red which brought too much attention and my neighbors stopped talking to me.... I feel the boxster was like a WASP sister and the M is the angry.mean brother.. the learning curve is awesome on the M which makes it fun but also will take a long time to get bored... FYI still have 2011 e90 328 beater car...and sold the 2006 m3 and 2008 335 last year.. Nice to be back... |

I guessed I now know why my neighbors aren't talking to me

Welcome back! I always dreamed of having a P car GTS... and yet it's funny how in the hands of some it just doesn't "fit".
Nonetheless I hope you enjoy many years and many miles in your new Z4M. Now send us pics!!!! lol |

Sold all those great cars and kept the E90 328i beater? Lol. Is this a lesson to listen ones wife or not? 😝
I'm just teasing you. I'm one to talk. Can't bear (or afford ) to part with my "beater" workhorse E82 128i. |

I've had 2 981 Cayman S's and have now returned to BMW in the form of a 2018 m240i xdrive
while the m240i is a fun car, truth is this is not how I ideally wanted to come back I miss normal aspiration and manual I hope to be back in a BMW e86 manual one day...then i'll truly be back |

appreciate the comments, will post some pics as the weather gets better and less gloomy in pittsburgh.
So far I have done the CDV delete, clutch stop. and wow is this clutch sensitive, to seat position (s) I must say this car is a greedy for you to push it and then says "nice try but you need to become a better driver" ; every time I push it thinking i will slip or kick the backend out it refuses (continental pro conti sport Z rated- 32 psi front 34 psi rear).. Next step is to experiment with tire pressures front/back the journey begins.. |

I'll totally second your opinion and comparison to the Boxster/Cayman. I traded an E92 M3 for a first Gen Cayman then traded that for my Z4M. Welcome back!

Willkommen! Yes, you will work harder driving your M but the rewards are greater. I was luckily invited a few years back to drive the new( at the time) 991 iteration of the venerable 911 in snowy Quebec at the" Porsche Driving Experience". Athough the cars were gorgeous anyone was able to drive them quickly- in fact with studded snows and PDK trannys it was too easy ! I find my Z4M coupe more engaging and raw and more of a bonding experience and still do.

991
hmm 991, I remember being excited to walk into a dealer ready to buy a new 991 (same day i drove 2018 box gts) and was disappointed, the 991 felt like a cruiser car. It felt big and the front felt very light and back felt tad heavy obviously due to the rear engine. I felt that i was a executive car that says "i am successful" but will never track this car to really experience the limits.
(I have driven several 991 on the track and it is a awesome but as a daily driver you really can not appreciate the engineering) my cousin owns a 2000 mazda miata and drove my z4M roadster last week. he said he has never driven a car that felt like the z4m. he prefers the gocart feel of the miata but i noticed that he walked away somewhat confused after he drove my z4m... I applaud the engineer or manager at the M division that dared to recommend the e46 m3 engine for the Z4M.. |
