2006 to 2008 Z4 brake cooling duct concept help......

Hi their guys, since I’m a designer and love the Z I thought I could do something for the Z crowd as their isn’t much love in the aftermarket world so I did a little photo-shopping and came up with a few concepts for brake cooling ducts on the face lifted Z4 3.0I or Si,

also added a little ground effects, I’m planning on making some prototypes and would like some of your feedback on which ones you’d like to see, these would be fully functional so those of you who don’t want to do a face lift on your current bumper to the aero face or M bumper.

thanks to all of you who give feedback or if there is even reason for me to do this.

thanks guys...

so here we go, feel free to click on the poll abouve!

here is the stock car.

option 1

option 2

option 3

option 4

option 5

option 5 for sure.

all of these will be fairly difficult to make though.

Agreed, option 5 although I'd make the color less contrasting. Maybe even keep it in black so need to have to get anything repainted.

From an aesthetic view, I think the mod looks great but I'm not sure how much it'll actually help with brake cooling, plumbing is always the difficult aspect of this type of mod. At best it might just direct some air to the channel, which I believe is what the M ducts do.

true. the ///m ducts dump air directly on the front of the tire unless the wheel is turned.

the ducts i had retro'd into my aero bumper put air directly (via line of sight) onto the brakes even when going straight. two drawbacks with that setup...
1) permenant modification of the front half of the inner liners.
2) the ducts have to be fairly low due to both the ambient air temp sensor, and also a metal brace that runs diagonally across the inside of the liner, just inside the foglamp access panel.

the temp sensor can be relocated. the brace cannot.

no worries guys, as youve seen from my many of projects, im very tight on my details and will get it right. even if i have to borrow tech from older race cars.

either way im more focused on the exterior for now, after i took the front end off i found ways to make this a workable project, it may require some minimal modification for the person getting the parts but otherwise should be bolt on.

either way just wanted to get you feedback on any ideas or whatnot you guys may have, also be critical if theirs someting you dont like let me know i can change this stuff up. just want it to be clean and not to aftermarket looking.

If you're looking for a cosmetic project, how about a brilliantly designed lightweight vented hood? Not a lot of options out there. I'd prefer an aesthetically pleasing single scoop, but that's me. It'd be great to have a photoshopped variety to choose from.

Nice work on the front end designs btw
