Z4M gauge cluster help.

Hey guys, so I bought a Z4 gauge cluster and am looking at taking and swapping the LED's out of the cluster and retrofitting them to my non-M cluster so I can have the white look as I prefer it to the orange glow.

my question is I've heard of other that have done this and others that have also just plugged the M gauge into their cars and the thing just worked and they didn’t need to retrofit the LED's. is it possible the cluster knows the speed and such so the RPM and speed is still accurate if a direct swap was made?

can anybody point me in the right direction? or send me a link where they explain how they did it?
