Anyone installed passive speakers in the doors?
Specifically a component set consisting of tweeters, midrange speakers and crossovers. What set are you using, and how's the result? Where's the crossover mounted?

If you're still using the factory audio amp it already has active cross overs built into it, which have much sharper cutoffs than can be achieved with passives.
What's your end goal here?

Mine came with the factory installed DSP amp but I've since replaced that with an aftermarket plug and play one paired with a new head unit. Problem is the new amp only drives 6 channels and now the mids in the doors and my carver woofers no longer work. The only way to get my mid range back in the fronts is to use a passive crossover.
Currently the sound quality with just the stock kick panel woofer and tweeter is actually quite good with the new amp (way better than original), but I figured it will definitely be better with the mids back? |
