id say just get a good set of 6 1/2 components for the speakers by your feet. these will come with tweeters that you can put in the stock spot (by the window). run the door and headrest speakers off of the headunit. no need to get all new speakers especially if you are only going to run the feet speakers and subs off of the amp.

this is actually how i have mine setup and it's great.

Stock speakers are 10ohms.. i don't know where you are going to find a stable 10 ohm aftermarket amplifiers... most if not all are 4 ohm stable, then going to 2 or 8.. never seen 10

xg3 is right. youre not going to get much out of 10ohm speakers. i recommended getting just a good component set since it will probably end up being cheaper than what that car audio place recommended (replace all 10 speakers) and it will probably sound 10 times better.

I am having the same issue with the same exact set up as you. Business CD, stock amp and non DSP.

Please tell me what right location is the "remote on" I am having a hell of a time with this and looks like you solved it.

Help please

guys i'm about to do the following to my 2003 2.5i z4 with hifi system (10 speakers, amp at the trunk, without dsp):

1. change my hu to pioneer p99
2. keep using the stock amp and speakers (hifi system, no dsp)

i've been back reading and some posts says i cannot use an aftermarket hu (gvbelgium, reach) while others have posted it worked for them (blacksapphirez4 and strokez)

if i understand correctly, all i need are the following parts:

1. scosche z4 radio bezel kit link: http://www.scosche.com/car-audio/product/484
2. scosche bmw link: http://www.scosche.com/car-audio/product/691
3. antenna adapter link: http://www.scosche.com/car-audio/product/212

to intall, i just have to plug the antenna power to pin 13 to power on the stock amp correct?

Let me know how it works out for you and post up pics. I contemplated going this route but after reading this thread last week, I'm looking at the Dice II Mediabridge with iPod ashtray mount, DSP connector and Sirius.

^ will do, hopefully this works.

the reason i'm doing this upgrade is to tune the existing amp and speakers using a very good HU plus has the functions i normally use, i.e.. iPhone control using HU or iPhone itself, iPhone charging, without taking out majority of the vehicle trim (that is brittle already and costly to replace plus tremendous rattle after reinstallation)

Wow, I just googled that p99. You're getting the Pioneer DEX P99RS? That's pretty hot.

yup, but unfortunately, it seems that i can't put in the p99rs without changing the wiring and amp since its output cables are all rca's, no stereo output (wire harness that connects to stock harness of the Z4

i'm currently researching what other head unit i can put.

well after more than a year, i finally found a headunit that i'm looking for, which is the pioneer 80prs, lots of tuning capabilities like the p99 but most importantly with its own power out to 4 channels that can be used to simple tapped onto the factory wiring while keeping the amp and speakers stock. head unit's other features aren't bad too (blutooth, iphone control)

got all the parts ready:

be doing the install on monday, hope everything goes well

Well, like what blacksapphireZ and strokeZ says, hifi/10 speaker without dsp system can work with an aftermarket head unit

now i can tune the Z4's stock amp and sound properly

here are the pics:

pioneer 80prs harness connected to the scosche harness and to the car's harness.

scosche bezel and the pioneer 80prs kit

with a new black a/c vent to match

stock hifi non dsp amp

my prying tool to remove the a/c center vents plus ofcourse a flat screw.

pass thru for the usb cable for my iPhone

can you please explain a bit more on the "remote on" in the right location?

My new headunit has a remote lead wire which I can't figure it out where it goes to the car harness....?

How did you wire the amp lead?

More pics would be greatly appreciated
