2.5" springs on 62mm KW V3 body

I'm looking at some springs but most are 2.5" ID (Hyperco, swift, etc). I know BC has Swift in 62mm, but the rates I need are not in stock.

Has anyone run the 2.5" ID springs on KW shocks (or any shock that is made for a 62mm ID spring) without issues on the track?

I have tried a set I have laying around for fit, and it feels looser than I would be comfortable with.

How tight are the tolerances on the original KW springs? From experience, 60mm springs measure ~1-1.5mm over and perches/couplers are ~0-0.5mm under. 2.5" ID is nominally 63.5, not that far away from 62mm all things considered. Your spring perches should have enough room for either. Going with a "62mm" odd size spring might also limit what you can get for a helper spring setup.

Spring perch is 61.40mm, and the 62mm spring is 63.30mm, so roughly 2mm tolerance.

The 2.5" spring I have here 65.25mm, which would increase the gap, now 3.85mm. So, it's an increase of 1.85mm.

I can move the 2.5" spring a good amount within the perch.

OD of the perch is 80mm. OD of the 62mm spring is 85.6, so ~2.8mm overhang on each side of the spring.

The 2.5" spring OD is 89.3, which would be ~4.6mm overhang on each side. I'm afraid too much of the spring mass is outside of the perch. I tried looking for 62mm to 2.5" adapters but can't find anything.

I'm looking at 2.5" for better sizes, so if folks have run 2.5" springs on a setup that normally uses 62mm, would be interested

I may be way off base but, is it feasible to machine up a top hat that would take up the slop between id of spring and od of perch and also create a shelf to increase the diameter of the perch where the bottom of the spring sits?
Am I understanding your dilemma?

That's correct, both the top and bottom would need one. I've seen those around but they are usually for 60mm -> 2.5" and they are tough to find, and usually made from ABS plastic.

I may also be overthinking this and it may be no problem to run this larger ID spring. I just don't know to expect if I do...

You can use this. All European coils use 52mm struts
