FWIW...
The Stoptech lines have been updated.
The Stoptech rears are a single 26.5" SS line replacing both OE flex pieces and the solid line between them on the trailing arm.
This eliminates extra fittings.
I'll post pics when I get them installed.

Interesting! Good to know. Very curious to see what they look like. It's a cheap enough part that I would entertain updating what I have installed so I don't have to use zip ties!

I had my brake rotors and pads changed under wear&tear warranty with OEM stuff just before last weekend's Calabogie event. I now realize that as my ability improves, my brakes are not sufficient enough. I'm thinking of cutting out the little plastic part that is obstucting half of the air coming from the front end of the car. Will this be sufficient?

My other alternative is to start doing pad changes at the track with the Hawks HT10s that I had purchased earlier. I need to learn to do this since I think it will become a must soon enough.

What effect on the stock rotors as I am alternating from the Hawks HT10s to the OEMs when going from DD to track back to DD ???

After running at Shannonville (tough on brakes)
I'm completely sold on Cool Carbons as a combo street/track pad.
I also have the Stoptech lines & Motul 600 fluid.

We're actually running a July Special on the Cool Carbon pads, with special pricing if interested. There's a good discount involved, and especially now that we're doing a free shipping deal for all our products, you cant beat the prices we're giving away now.

PM me for more details

So this is what I've learned this morning. Using HT10s on OEM rotors is not suggested. Sure it will work but the rotors will wear out very fast.

I will need to purchase a new set of track rotors that have been properly frozen in the manufacturing process. This gets all the air pockets/bubbles out of the rotor by contracting the metal.

So if I understand, Use my OEM set (rotors and pads) as long as acceptable. If still on warranty, change again to the same thing.
Then, buy a set of track rotors (?) and I will be able to switch from HT10s pads to regular OEMs pads at any time I see fit.

Does this make sense?

Brake fade almost nonexistent today. Motul RBF 600, and ducts were opened up. SS Brake lines were already there. OEM pads and rotors.

So I'm quite happy now.

Now the tires are my next question... they seem to not grip as much anymore.

I run PF-01 pads on OE rotors and am down to minimum thickness in front and heat/stress cracks around holes. Dealer will replace rotors under the 4 yr/50K BMW Maintenance Program.
I'm on my second set of Toyo R-888 tires; 245/40-18 front and 255/35-18 rear mounted on E46 M3 wheels. Camber is critical with these R-compound tires; I run -3.5 degrees front (TCK camber/caster plates) and -2.0 degrees rear. Handling is neutral to some controllable over steer at the friction limits.

You are lucky to have a sympathetic dealer service dept. Mine would refuse to pay for rotors that had stress cracks or other evidence of high temperatures.
