The 3.0si has definitely earned my respect as a qualified race car. Took the car for its first race weekend with BMW CCA club racing at Roebling Road. The car performed like a champ, we still have a few things to work out, but overall very happy with the results

SO awesome.
For the unlearned, perhaps you can tell us about a few of the highlights of the HP class....safety rules (cage, seat, etc), engine, suspension.

I have attached the CCA Club Racing Rules. All cars require a 6 point cage, safety etc. The key is the HP to Weight Ratio and the higher you go up the more modifications you can do. I built this car for WRL endurance series and BMW HP. the 3.0si you can get up to 285 to 295hp with a full set up, the key is the M3 with the S54 is in the same class but has to be almost 200lbs heavier. So HP/Weight becomes a bigger factor, as well as reliability. We still have a lot of tweaking to do but the car is a blast to drive. My other car which is be build for C-Mod has no weight restrictions and has a fully built S54 Stroker Motor. That will be a site to see. If you have any other questions feel free to DM me.
SPORT AND PREPARED A. Vehicles of the same engineering designation (for example, E36, E46), type (for example, 325, 330, 318), configuration (for example, two-door, four -door, all-wheel drive) and horsepower will be weight equalized to the lowest of the model year factory weights. B. Cars will be initially classified based upon published factory stock weight (pounds) and published factory stock power (SAE bhp) using lbs./bhp ratios as follows: G = Under 10.00 lbs./bhp H = 12.50 to 10.00 I = 12.50 to 13.99 J = 14.00 to 16.59 K = 16.60 to 18.99 L = 19.00 to 22.49 M = 22.50 and over 2. MODIFIED A. Cars will be classified based upon actual engine displacement as follows: A = over 5000.000cc B = 3499.001cc to 5000.000cc C = 2980.001cc to 3499.000cc D = 2199.001cc to 2980.000cc E = 1800.001cc to 2199.000cc F = under 1800.000cc https://bmwccaclubracing.com/wp-cont...2020_v.6.1.pdf |

Greetings M-Cast and thank you for the very detailed response.
If I'm reading this correctly, did you remove appx 150 lbs from the E86 (car 84) race car?? That alone must have really affected its handling, braking, turn, in, etc. Just curious, what is the appx weight of the 6 point cage and how this weight added high in the car affected center of gravity, handling, etc. What is the engine redline and what is the RPM that you upshift?? Perhaps they're two separate answers. Really appreciate your correspondence....for those that only dream of a race car, this gives us insight into the real thing.

Redline is revs are at 7200. Switching from the 3.46 to the 3.73 made a huge difference in the rev range. |

Took the car out on a nice long drive on the Blue Ridge Parkway after being parked for over a year (fresh rod bearings). I've missed this car so much

The Z has such a timeless design. Some thinks the nose is too long, but I think it's perfectly proportioned!
