Dinan springs opinions please
Ok. For those of you who actually have installed Dinan springs with your factory struts....long term opinions please? Specifically, how well the stock dampers maintain control over the higher spring rates. I sold mine some time ago, but have a reason to think of going back to them.
Not to be an ass...but I'm truly only looking for feedback from those that OWN this set up. Not interested in opinions, conjecture, or what you've "heard". Coilovers are not an option. TIA |

If I might as, what caused you to sell your original set? I was curious about picking this up in the future as a potential upgrade. Does it offer a noticeable handling advantage on the track/autocross, all other things being equal? How does it change ride quality?

I sold them because I had an entire Dinan Prototype suspension, which I wasn't completely happy with. The little I used the springs with factory shocks, I was using them on shocks that had spent considerable time damping H&R springs, and so were fairly worn.
I'm thinking of now going to Coupe shocks, which are 7-8% or so stiffer, on my Roadster, and using the Dinan springs. The tricky part is that I have O.Z. Ultraleggera for summer wheels/tires, and the rear offset is et40, plus a 20mm O.Z. spacer, that also acts as the centering ring since it's BMW hubcentric on one side, and O.Z. hub centric on the other. I think I'll need to get custom built spacers, perhaps 15mm instead of 20, to avoid rubbing. I've tried EVERY aftermarket suspension for this car, and have not been happy with any of them for every day street driving. And this car IS my daily driver, 58,000 miles and counting. |
