Are EGT and secondary o2 sensor for cats only?

Do the EGT and secondary (downstream) o2 sensors have any function in the ECU other than monitoring cats. I.e. are they used to determine fuel mix? And how would they impact that?

Not sure about the 2nd set of cats, but I ran around with a sheared egt cable for a bit. Ran very rich. I can't remember much aside from that the freaking egt sensor unit for the US is different to the Euro one. I think I still have the new US one lying around somewhere.. (the plug is different)

I recall reading the rear o2’s played a small role in fuel trims, which seemed consistent with my experience with my n52 coupe.

I recall reading that somewhere too (About the 2ndary o2s). At the same time as this post I asked Randy at Epic motorsports, he got back to me today and said they are not used. (S54)

UPDATE: The above pertains to the epic tune, not the stock tune Still wondering what the effect of these are for the stock tune.

AFAIK the rear lambda sensors are for emissions purposes and I believe affect long-term fuel trims.
