Looking for a good wing

Hey guys,

Looking for a Voltex/APR or similar styled wing for my roadster.

Any recommendations? Reps and unbranded are fine too.

Thanks!

Strictly for looks since a functional wing would cost $$$. Yes Yes "you're going to have a rice car djoutcry".

That's fine with me. I would like to have a race inspired look.

Guys I have a serious question. Would this work? cut two slits on the bumper and custom fab a wing to fit on the rear crash beam. Theoretically would it produce more downforce than if it was on the trunk because it is farther back on the car creating more leverage? I came up with the idea while having a few beers with friends lol. It would be for track day only purposes because mounting on the trunk is not only a pain in the ass but expensive to go back to oem without using fillers to cover the holes and repaint. This method only needs a new rear bumper and a crash beam. It would also be easier to swap for a track day than the whole trunk itself. Granted if I mounted on the trunk I wouldn't remove it but I would like to have rear visibility because there is already no rear visibility in the coupe.

GT cars are done this way on some teams. Depends on how large a stanchion you can stomach. Even on a hatch install, they make slits that reach inside and rest on previously installed supports inside the trunkwell floor.
If it's a less area of a wing(little downforce ) than stanchions can sit atop the deck with a decent footprint.

This

Also OP its your car, do what you want... If you do go CF though do not go cheap, you'll regret it when the finish turns to shit. A lot of guys here have had good results with APR CF products on their coupes.

Always wondered if it would be possible to make something that could bolt onto the underside of the coupe hatch at the rear corners and have the vertical wing supports sticking out from the sides. I probably didn't explain that very well. Anyway, strength would be the biggest issue I guess since it couldn't be thicker than the panel gap between the hatch and the rear quarter panel. If it was possible it would be awesome though. Wing large enough to be functional but it could be removed any time without visible holes.

I saw a roadster this past weekend that had a HUGE F&F style Race Inspired Cosmetically Enhanced wind protruding from the trunk.

It was green and I am sure that the owner loved it, but I was definitely proud of how mine looked that day

That being said, it is your car, do with it what you want! As long as it is beautiful to you, it is all good. I always remember not to judge, but criticizing is ok

This is what the wing looked like...

Sometimes you just have to gape in awe at the, ummmmm, remarkable things people do to their cars.

Or as our friend (and occasional fellow car writer) Sean Bugg puts it: What did that BMW ever do to you?

Yep, it's a biplane wing on the truncated trunk of an otherwise perfectly innocent BMW Z4. No doubt it adds hundreds of pounds of crucial downforce on the rear wheels at freeway speeds.

God, we love America: land of the free, and home of the truly, utterly tasteless. Rock on, dude.
