Bucking bronco is right. It's driver induced but the car is unusually sensitive to it. I've never owned or driven anything even remotely this easy to making it happen.

Never had the bucking, but have noticed that the transmission does need a few miles of warm up to feel just right.

Ess claims 8hp.
Bren tune dynoed a 20hp gain on a 98 degree day.

I have the ESS and o-cha is right, they "shouldn't" open the ECU, but for the mss70, there is no way externally to flash anything code; but it does open the door to other issues, electrically that is, so it is a greater risk than say the Shark injector. ESS tune has been flawless for me and others here, the only reason I got it was their 91 octane map and all the issues with the crapifornia gas are gone now. I drove an '07 Imola at my local dealership for comparison, and you grow into the tunes, but driving one without, after having one for a year, it night and day.
There is no way I believe a simple software tune can achieve 20hp though, not at the top, and the ESS 8-12 hp, it more in the mid-range with what feels like an extended top, instead of the dramatic drop.

Could you please explain to me why don't they mean much?
You must be misinformed my friend, even ESS opens the ECU. It's the only way to tune our cars Quote:
I'm happy you enjoy it. But why sway someone from a product that I just proved to have the gains I mentioned previously? If you don't try new things then where is the room for improvement?

Thus far, it seems like ESS has the slight upper hand just because more people have it
But I'm open-minded about the BrenTune. Curious as to why O-Cha thinks it's no good? |

I'll gladly put my car against an ESS car with similar mods if there is anyone in the area. Not trying to bash on Ess I'm just looking for facts.

And you would be the one who is misinformed, just because ESS opens the ECU as well doesn't mean it's the only way to flash the car, it's actually an "easy" way out when you don't have the appropriate software and protocols. There is a company with them and I have that software which allows the flashing through the CAN. I don't think it's no good, I know nothing about it. I was only commenting that having a dyno that says "it makes 20hp" doesn't make it "better" or necessarily good at all. With these kind of things the only way you're really going to know what's good is by independent customer experience or the reputation of the company releasing the tune. Never heard of bren tune and there's just this guy with it. So I wouldn't touch it personally.

I am just being overly cautious as ESS has been around a very long time and I don't think many of us have heard of the Bren, so sure, feel free to experiement with your car; and like I said, I went with a tune because of the 91 octane restriction in Cali and so far, it's worked perfectly, I didn't expect much power, just consistency and some better throttle response. I never use sport mode, and prefer the linear throttle as-is.
