Changed 4x tires now car won't start/flat battery
Last week I recieved a new set of stock 224m wheels/tires from a member here and installed them to replace a flat I received and needed new tires anyways. Long story short I went to crank the car and the battery was flat. Jumped it last night no problem and drove for 10 minutes and battery was fine. Go out today and its dead flat. Like something is draining it overnight?
I am perplexed. How could changing the wheels impact battery drain? The only change I can think of is the new wheels had tpms sensors whereas the old did not. But from everything I see this shouldn't be an issue. Seems entirely too coincidental the flat battery occurred exactly when I changed the wheels without some correlation. Any thoughts are much appreciated. Edit: I should add the abs flickers when I go to turn the ignition. Concerned there may be some sort of abs pump fault maybe. Car is under fidelity platinum warranty so I am not concerned about cost but would like to avoid taking it in if possible. Last edited by 97nasd90; 12-29-2014 at 03:15 PM.. |

How old is your battery? It may just be timing. That is the first thing I would check. Do you use a tender when not driving the car? Is it a daily driver?

This. It may just be the battery giving up the ghost. If it is anything around 5-6 years old it's time to replace it.

Maybe the new wheels ran out of power
Now that it's cold even in my garage, if I don't use the car within 4+ days, the car will crank once and then you hear the click click click... so If I don't use the car, I plug it to my batter tender every 4 days until the light turns solid green. I'm just sharing what I go through to make sure the car starts when I need it. my battery is 5 years old so that might be the reason why. If you jump start your car from a flat battery, make sure you run it at least for 30 mins give it a chance to charge again. Cheers |

You sure you didn't have the door/trunk open for extended period when you were swapping wheels?
