Welcome and great acquisition!
Speaking of the Performance Center at Spartanburg.. once upon a time, Z4 and Z4M coupes roamed the facility. This shot was taken at a corporate event I attended 10 years ago, shortly after buying my first Z4MC. It was awesome to get to flog "my" car on the track along with everything else BMW had to offer at the time, including the incredible E60 M5.

Z4 Side Mirrors
I have now broken 2 side FIXED mirrors on 2 separate occasions. Can I replace the passenger side mirror with the folding version. Does the folding and fixed mirrors look essentially the same or would it look funning to have both a fixed and folding mirror on the car? Thx!

Heyo, just bought this in Dallas. 2007 si, manual, premium package, 49k on the clock. Pretty cherry except for a little rim rash and parking bumper scrape on the spoiler. Bone stock except for an XM receiver.
Got it from the second owner out of Plano for $17k. Didn't check the date on the tires, but found later that they are 9 years old! 34k on them and they still look great - so I figure she drove it very gingerly, which is fine by me! About to put the Pilot 4S on all four corners, and just got an indoor cover for it. Stereo sucks despite 10 speakers and an amp. Oh well, it's nicer just to listen to the straight six anyway. |

Hey everyone, new to the forum and new to BMW ownership. Recently acquired an 07 3.0si roadster as a bit of a project car. Car is Black Sapphire Metallic on red leather (Imola Red?) with a 6-speed. It's a fairly high-mileage car at about 132k but the previous owner took pretty good care of it cosmetically.
A little background on myself - I'm the manager of the BMW division at an independent euro-specialist auto shop in northern VA. Ironically, this is the first BMW I've ever owned. I've always been a big Mazda fanboy and had a lightly modded NC MX-5 that I really enjoyed. I was keeping my eyes open for a new convertible project and this E85 kind of fell into my lap. A customer of mine did not want to put any more money into it to fix it up so I bought it from him directly and had my technicians work on it after hours over a few week span. A list of things that have been replaced so far: - Battery - Water pump - Thermostat - Expansion tank and cap - Convertible top motor - Brakes all around - Starter - Wiper linkage and motor - Alternator - Auxiliary cooling fan I've already begun doing some simple cosmetic fixes, including the windshield seal, re-fitting the leather on both A pillars, and a full interior detail. Next up on the list is replacing the front bumper cover (you can see the damaged paint in the photo) and refinishing the 108 wheels. I take care of the cosmetic items myself as well as some of the simpler mechanical repairs - anything major I leave to my technicians. So far I'm really enjoying this little roadster (the red interior is what compelled me to buy it) and I'm looking forward to the project. Always open to suggestions and ownership tips! And although I'm new to this forum I was very active back in my younger days on Jeep Forum when I had a '98 Wrangler. Here's a few photos to start off. - Zach |
