Question Sport Button not working.

Hey all, new member. Think this is the right forums. It's throttle related but didn't see a more appropriate subforum

I'm looking at a couple of Z4Ms right now.

One of them has a non-working sport button. Doesn't light up and doesn't seem to change the throttle response either.
Any idea what the issue might be here? Is it as simple as a broken button, fuse, loose connector? Or is there a bigger issue and expensive fix somewhere I need to know about?

Thanks for any help

Sorry, no troubleshooting help here. But I will say that I never touch mine anyway. The only thing it changes is throttle mapping, and it makes it worse. I wouldn't let it change a purchase decision.

I use mine when I go on a spirited drive. I like the throttle response. Maybe the one that is not working has a tune. Plug in a code reader to see is it shows anything.

If it isn't lighting up then there is probably a loose connector. Pulling the center console apart post purchase can resolve this.

In this case (and AFAIK) you're experiencing only ~70% of the power available

If you equate throttle response with power, then, maybe. But I see 6K+ RPM with regularity and that is where the power lives in the S54.

In my type of driving, on my eastern seaboard roads that are essentially walking paths and wagon trails that eventually got paved, the sport button just makes the car jerky and and overly antsy. Maybe if the roads were wider and faster it might be different. I can tell you for certain I'd never touch the button on the Tail of the Dragon. Other roads, well, I'll keep my mind open.

I don't remember where I read it (but I read it on several occasions from different sources) but you never open the throttle fully in regular mode. It's just never goes to WOT. So it's not just the reaction on the throttle pedal, it's also the amount of fuel/air you let into the chamber.

Have you actually seen a Driver demand map that does what you describe?

I've look at dozens of BMW drivers demand and torque maps and I've never seen one that does not provide full power unless it's an emergency map or similar. The difference between sport and regular mod is simply the shape of the curve.

I stand corrected... searched it deeper and yep, you folks are right - it goes to WOT in normal mode, just not as fast as in sport. Please ignore my "fake news" in this thread
