Can't think of the last time I took my car through a stroll through the ocean. I live on long island surrounded by salt water, and don't even have rust on my truck that I use to tow skis into water.....regular cleaning and should be good

I've lived near the ocean most of my life. You'd be amazed how much fine salty sea mist is in the air, especially on a windy day. You can wash the car and two hours later it can be covered with a light evaporated salt layer that you can see. There's little doubt in my mind it could build up over time depending upon the installation job.

That's going to be hard to do with a lip spoiler. But we can always try, right?

Great work on getting in this far guys!! This is what makes these forums ace!!

Viper-ish style gets my vote. As I've seen written a few times, it's essential it flows with the lines of the car! Don't like the idea of too much overhang it'll end up looking like this, which I hate:

https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com...85dd222899.jpg

What's people's opinions on it extending beyond the boot sideways? (As in the orange viper picture, so if the boot is open the spoilers edges would be sticking out, give or take, a couple of inches)

Very excited to see the final product! Literally put off buying a tekarbon one for 3 months and counting due to waiting on this!!

Viperish gets my vote, all though a combo of that and the m4 could be neat, kicking up in the back or a duck bill style only adds to the overall style and will make the back of the car seem wider, yet adding the m4 style with the ends being higher and the middle lower I believe will add to function. Our coupe roofs have a channel down the middle for airflow so having the middle of the spoiler matching those lines I believe will stay true to the overall bow styling and could possibly enhance or at least not mess with the airflow as the car was originally designed.

My 2cents ?

Good idea with lining up the notch in the spoiler with the roof indentation lines.

The notch design will line up and have a reference point to the two roof lines. The width will not extend pass the diagonal line of the top left/bottom right or the top right/bottom left of the hatch glass. It will look out of the place if it doesn't flow with the original design and proportion of the car.

Prototype should be out in less than 2 weeks.

I suppose this is kind of similar to what we are talking about. Decently high kick, a large notch and sits on top of the hatch and does not wrap over

Can't go wrong mimicking this style. So many design elements seen between the wheel arches of the Z4 (particularly with the optional rockers) are reflected in almost any current sedan these days. The basic design seems to have refreshed itself in the past 5 years - more mainstream now and less fussy and funky - and this design spoiler will continue that "modernizing" trend IMO.

This looks great, count me in. I would be looking for a more aggressive style, but I can't really determine which is which so I refrained from voting. I'm happy to wait to see what comes out. It looks like it's going to be just what these cars need.

This should go nicely with my luvers (when I eventually make them)
