My RICE Mod! :)

Warning: Extreme RICE content

You have been warned :P

Got bored. Decided to do this lol. MY car. MY mods. Simple as that.

Turns on with the dome/footwell lights. So, it turns on when you unlock, turns off when you lock/close the doors/drive.

Me and a friend have joked in the past about me semi-wanting some really ricey upgrades for practical reasons: Lambo doors to get in/out of my car in tight spots and under car neon to act as a puddle lights.

Now that I've seen this video, I'm sort of tempted to do this with white neon and just on the sides

Puddle light retrofit

Pretty Ricey, but I'm an Electrical Engineer, so I like lights.
It's slammed and tucked that I just can't get the hang of.

I've been thinking about back-lighting the kidney grills with orange so it looks like there's evil brewing under the hood.

Because Racecar.

Hey, it's not neon green and flashing, so, it's not that ricey! Looks pretty good actually.

Stickmon, do eeettt!

I'm all for something a bit different. All of the "usual" mods have been pretty much done, so things like this, or complete radio / multi-media system retrofits are pretty darn cool.

Keep them coming--keeps things interesting around here!

Didn't the i8 Vision show car have backlit kidney grilles? That's high level validation for me. Have to admit that it is appealing.

I am thinking of putting another blue strip behind the grill. Might work on that later tonight. I will post once I finish it tonight.

It would be significantly less ricey if it was white colored light

I can agree with that. But I wanted the rice looking blue LED to go with the blue zed.

That's just the grill look I'm hoping to get, in orange, so it looks like there's a ham in the oven.
Mind sharing what strip you used and what you stuck it to?

Glad you like it.

This is what I got LINK

They are waterproof and they come in different lengths and colours.

I can take a picture of where I mounted it. Will update this thread with a picture first thing in the morning.

This is definitely cool. Love the I8 look!

Stickmon, get to work on that "ham in the oven" (aka EvIL) look!

Need to finish my full Cree R5 LED taillight mod first.
Woulda this weekend, but it looks like we're actually going to get some rain for a change.
No 85° and sunny this weekend.

Sigh. That makes me jealous. We are going through -20 (Celsius) temps

Yep, those came yesterday.
Back-up lights came last week.
According to UPS, turn signals and brake lights from Bimmian are on my porch.

Initial impression is that $20 Chinese LEDs are much better made than $2 ones, thankfully.

I wanted to do the grills on my old Z but in the M colors... Light Blue // Deep Blue // Red at the end or maye just mix the red and the blue hard inbetween. Thought it would have been a cool effect, but difficult to find the lights to make it happen.

Kinda hard to get a picture of where I stuck it, might do a video instead. It's a very tight spot.

I also added a WHITE LED strip to replace the licence plate lights. Simple wiring. going to have to wait till it's a bit dark to take pictures/video.

Wow that was fast. Can't wait to see if they fit up front and if they have any weird issues!
