Space gray vs. Silver gray
I searched but couldn't find the question answered: what's the difference? Is silver gray lighter than space gray. I wasn't able to dig up any photos comparing the two in similar lighting.

Just a slight color variation. IMO Silver-Gray (A08) is more of a true silver.
Here are color chips for the Z4M Coupe. You can see A52 (Space-Gray) has more of a green tint to it. http://www.bmwz4roadster.net/bmw_z4_colors_MQP.htm

Space Grey is a deeper richer Grey IMO. Both are nice but if placed side to side I'd choose Space Grey any day.
Roadster = Silver Grey Coupé = Space Grey Enjoy |

Well hrmmm...I had kind of dismissed the Space Gray previously but I must have been thinking of the Silver Gray. The former is pretty sweet. It was only a 2008 color, right?

Yup.
Forum member GP20 has the Space Grey Coupé. His old Roadster was Silver Grey. He's glad he made the switch. Here's a link to more pics of Space Grey: http://www.z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=10920 |

Hey Rick, the pics brought back some nice memories (as well as some bad ones lol).
In the pictures, it's really hard to tell the difference between space gray and silver gray. But in person the difference is very noticible. Space gray is visibly darker and has more depth than silver gray. On a bright day, silver gray makes you pause and wonder if it might be silver gray or titanium silver; whereas space gray is more of a true gray. Personally, I'd take space gray over silver gray. I might not have traded in my Z4MR for the Z4MC if I didn't happen to bump into a space gray. Some more pics taken by Rick Hunter and Erhan. http://www.z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=13902

SiG is a darker silver which i prefer over the titanium silver, which is too light. The silver gray is a chameleon color--- changes with conditions.
SpG is gray... not a big fan myself

Part of color perception, particularly with the shades of gray/silver, definitely can be affected by individual variation between people and their visual sensitivity to color. That said, I think I have pretty good, or average, color perception or sensitivity. I will vouch for the space gray being darker, and the one we saw (and test drove for 45 minutes) was on a sunny day and it definitely had some greenish tones to it. I've had a silver gray M3 for 2.5 years and now a SG Z4MC, it is more "colorless" in my opinion, with out undertones of any other shade almost regardless of environmental or lighting conditions. It changes in brightness with conditions and the incident angle of light hitting the car, but maintains a colorless, gray hue. My two cents...
