The 275 has a smaller tread size than the 265 when both are mounted to a 9.5 inch rim. I bet a 10inch rim would flatten the 275 out a bit more. This new knowledge has opened a whole new world for me! Thanks again!
One reason why when everyone was pushing 275's in the rear, I went with the 265/40 PSS on my car.

Does anyone see any issues with running the below 19 inch setup with larger profiles and slightly larger than stock OD?

My Wheels are HRE FF01:
Front: 19 x 8.5 ET 30
Rear: 19 x 10 ET 40 (w/12 mm spacer)

Tires I'd like to run are MPSS's
Front: 225/40/R19
Rear: 265/35/R19

I'm lowered on H&R springs (25 mm) and will probably go slightly lower with coil overs in the future.

I went with the slightly narrower tire due to the aggressive offsets and MPSS tread width being wider than other brands. The proposed larger profiles (40 & 35) will get me closer to the stock overall diameter albeit just a tad larger. Per my calculations using Michelin data the overall tire diameters will be 5.1 mm (front) and 7.6 mm (rear) larger than stock. I'm not a track guy and mainly do occasional spirited street driving.

Hello All.

I have been reading and reading and yes... even used the search feature here. I want to be sure I cover all my bases before pulling the trigger on my wheels. The challenge for me is that I want a set of wheels not normally selected by BMW folks. Any input will either continue to make me go cross eyed and run away, or buy with confidence. Thanks in advance. So... will they work with what I hope will be 245/275 45ish tires?

I'm looking for Enkei Kojin's in an 18" Here's the details and some picks for reference.

Old setup
BMW ZCP's
Front 8x19 ET47 on the wheel and an additional 10mm Spacer
Rear 9.5x19 ET27

New setup
Enkei Kojin
Front 8.5x18 ET35
Rear 9.5x18 ET35

For reference, these are the wheels on my old 135i (sold them after the car was totaled a year ago). Same sizes.

Front is fine. You'll need a 10mm spacer for the rear

Thanks for the reply. I was re-reading all 20+ pages here to find commonalities and be positive. I have read that if I use camber bolts and go to -2 degrees I may require a 5mm spacer up front for clearance on the suspension, but I'll cross that bridge when I get there.

Thanks again.

That may be the case if you add cambers. My 19x8.5 et 35 wheel wrapped with 245 tire cleared the strut with plenty to spare. No fender rub either. I'm on stock strut and camber.

My Z4 MC came with a spare set of VMR Wheels (VB3/V703) with a square set up of 18 x 8.5 (ET 40) and tire size 255/35 R18. Would it be helpful run a spacer in the rear, if so what size? I happen to have a pair of 15 mm spacers with longer lug bolts, would that be appropriate?

The prior owner ran the rears without a spacer, but someone said they didn't look flush.

Thanks for your input!

Marc

Offset calculator says you're 16 mm retracted relative to stock setup. So a 15 mm spacer will get you closer to the stock look as far as flushness to fender.

When I was running stock setup I had a 10 mm spacer (ride height lowered 25 mm) with no issues so I think you could do a 25 mm spacer and be fine and get an even more flush look. Of course you would have to make adjustments to the front to get a consistent look front to rear.

Can anyone confirm or deny if a 19x11 with 26mm offset will fit in the rear of a Z4M Coupe? The tire would be a 275/30/19

Use tire size calculator.
This setup will be v aggressive, 21.4mm closer to suspension strut and outer rim poke out 29.4mm. This may rub the sidewall.

Thanks for your input. I just don't have access to my car (its sitting stock) to get exact measurements of the fender and wheel gap as well as the height.

I know the same wheels were previously on an e46 m3 which was dropped on kws and had no fender work done.

This is the fitment on the e46 m3.

Hmmm...here wheels look too wide for the tire....but again it's a different setup. I'm little conservative and try to stay within the body line.
I'm moving to 275/30/19 tires on wheel 9.5 wide, offset 25 and it only goes 11.4mm out...so within range.
Someone with aggressive setup can chime in here.

Those tires appeared to be stretched beyond what I would considered safe. But, to each his/her own

I have continentals which run a little wider and if there is enough clearance i will go wider with the tire. Different strokes for different folks. 275 is the minimum recommended size for the 11" width. I didn't think it was such a stretch.

Need tire size advice for Michelin Pilot Supersport

Wow this is a long tread with TONS of information and while I can appreciate it I have been overwhelmed. So please help dumb this down for me.
I have my original rims on my Z4MC and sadly the original tires from 2006. I am now up to 11k miles so plenty of tread for my old man driving style but time for new rubber. Car is summer only and I have decided on the MPSS (please no opinions on that, this is confusing enough). Now I just have two issue:
1) Size = Tire rack says 255/40ZR18 (95Y) XL on the rear and 225/45ZR18 95Y XL on the front. I see a lot of posts with lots of other sizes. I assume that to maintain the stock look that is the size I should go with but what tire size would you recommend? (not racing, just thinking of resale-looks-and driving feel)
2) Price = Once I know the sizes I can shop the internet with the best of you so let's skip the "try a google search". If you have some specific direction on where you feel the best deals can be had please offer it.

With your stock suspension setup I highly recommend staying with the original spec sizes.
They are aprox 26.0 inches in diameter and will fill the wheel well gap better.

If you go to a larger size (265/35 & 235/40) the side wall aspect ratio reduces the overall diameter to ~ 25.3"
This will make the gap over the tire look even larger than it is now.

Your car looks great the way it is!
I would stay the course.

On stock rims I'd go with the stock tire sizes. I would recommend 10-12 mm spacers to get the wheels more flush. Pair that with some 24 mm lowering springs and you'll have the perfect semi aggressive stock look. Can't go wrong with MPSS's but keep in mind Michelin have replaced those with Pilot Sport 4S. Good time to buy tires since I believe Michelin is having a rebate going on.

Curious to see what the members think of these combinations on a z4m. I have the turner shim kit with alignment pins pulled and have -2.7 degrees camber on the front, with stock suspension. I am currently running this setup:

Front 18x8.5 et 35 – 225/40/18 with 12 mm spacer
Rear 18x9.5 et 35 – 255/35/18 with 18 mm spacer

Thoughts on the following combos? Tires are Continental ExtremeContact DW, and I am primarily concerned with the fit on the front

Front 18x8.5 et 35 – 255/40/18
Rear 18x9.5 et 35 – 275/35/18

Or

Front 18x9 et 42 – 255/40/18
Rear 18x10 et 25 – 275/35/18

That was my setup when I was running stock wheels except that I had a 25 mm drop on H&R springs. That drop did wonders for the stance. I'd definitely recommend it if your roads are decent.
