z4 Subframe ...

Man its been a long time since i posted here..... im about to throw in some solid diff mounts.... ive really been out the scene for a looonnngg time building my business . First question, the e86/86 platform has been around for long enough for us to work out if the subframe has ever showed similar issues to the e46 in terms of the weak subframes.... As far as im aware its never done so? am i correct ?

id like to throw in some solid diff mounts but need some more information on above!

Hope everyones well, ive still got my supercharged z4m and shes doing REAL well!!

over a decade of ownership now!

Hello Beedub, welcome back.
I had the subframe out of my non M 2-3 years ago now to do full poly.
Frame showed no signs of cracking during inspection after sandblasting and before powder coating.

Your car has considerably more power so closer inspection would be good DD.

No issues, as far as I am aware of, btw, the M3 suffered from the cracking of the subframe mounts, not the actual subframe itself, which is identical to the Z4 one. So with yours, I'd have a close look at the mounts as your running more power than the average bear.

Welcome back! Great to see the VF kit running good long term.
As far as I'm aware the Z4M has the same issue although no immediate source to back that up. Anyone else with more knowledge wanna chime in?

E85/86 subframe mounts to frame rails, not floor sheet metal like the E46. Don’t believe we’ll see mount failures on our cars. Far better design.

I'm pretty sure he's not running a VF Kit.
