I Accidentally Made 550WHP Over the Weekend
OK not completely accidentally but almost. Long story short, I sold my beloved ‘08 M Coupe early last year to “downsize” but had seller’s remorse and picked up an ’07 a few months later. This time I decided to do what I had always wanted to do which is to Supercharge an M Coupe. I bought a VF570 kit off a member of this forum, had it installed by a local shop and took it to the legendary Frank Smith for the tune.
On the first Dyno run, the car made close to 550WHP (registered 497WHP with the wheels slipping) at 6800RPM and had to back off the throttle as it was making way too much power for this stock engine. It would have likely pushed 600WHP+ had it been taken to 8200RPM. It turned out a previous owner of the kit swapped the OEM SC pulley for a smaller custom one that was rated for 20+lbs of boost which would have obliterated my engine had Frank not spotted it Special thanks to @Rated M Roadster and @pokeybritches for documeting their builds and for answering my annoyingly long PMs

Wow!
My car came with the VF570 kit installed. I want to have Frank do a tune for it this spring (as I'm not really sure what it currently has). I wish he were local. |

Wow fantastic results!
I worked with frank when I put my vf570 on and had issue after issue stemming from the fact we couldn't tune on the dyno (datalogging issues with his mss54 based system, we worked together on the dyno when I was na and had great results!) The v3-si committed suicide and I rebuilt it with a bigger billet wheel, and did a few other upgrades at the same time (fuel pump, massive air to water heat exchanger in the bumper) Finally worked with Josh (Severn tuning) as his mss70 guinea pig; We (he) learned a lot and my car is now running fantastic. Haven't gotten on a dyno yet but it's making 12psi at 8200rpm. I have my fuel system (lines, injectors, flex fuel sensor and piggyback) ready to go for e85 but have some other things to focus on first. Looking forward to seeing you get your car dialed in with a The right pulley. How small of a supercharger pulley was on the car? Stock crank pulley as well? Stock v3-si blower? |

Oh my. I know this is overkill but I'm interested in this as well. Do you have a build thread or can you elaborate on what is need for an e85 setup? |

Current pulley is around 2.6", the OEM replacement is 2.87". Not much difference in size but probably significant in boost. Stock crank and stock blower. I'll provide an update after the final tune.
