I don't want to make assumptions about where I grew up as I haven't been back since 1970. But my hometown did make headlines and not in a peaceful way. Ferguson MO. Riots within a mile of my childhood home.

Ours was different. No one would go there when I lived there, and still won't today. It's always had a bad reputation.

But back then....if you lived there long enough....you were accepted. I lived there 11 years. As long as I minded my own business, I was fine.

The government approved monthly quantity seems quite optimistic for a 54 yo. I have enough to last the rest of my life and they just keep sending more. Quite demoralizing.

On this whole neighborhood thing: I live in 'da Hood and yet have zero issues walking to the corner store, even after dark. There are 2 other white dudes I know of in our 3 streets. No locks are actually used on my doors.
