That adaptive nature of ESS is a major selling point. Might also justify added bucks. However, 490.00 sounds good for what you get.

Do a search on bimmerfest for the ESS software. Lots of dyno's tests/reviews etc.

If you want the software, PM Rom3n and he'll give you the details.

one reason why i am holding back on this is because of warranty issues. I am really concerned about the dealer detecting this. I know they say it doesn't, but they run a business so they want to sell their product. If they said it was detectable by the dealer how many people would actually buy it?

ESS software cannot be detected by dealers. Your DME when scanned by the dealer will show your stock file. ESS has sold well lets say alot of software over the years and has never had a customer have any issues with dealer warranty claims. But that being said if you are concerned with warranty issues do not mod your car.

i know the dealer has to prove ways that a mod caused failure in order to void your warranty, i would defintely lose against a tune.

Depends on what the failure is. But, like Rom3n said, don't bother modding the car at all if you're worried about warranty issues.

Check out this post. Earl has done a ton of Dyno runs and comparo's at different stages of mod.

I got the ESS done a few months ago, and I love it.

Pretty much every flash out there for any BMW will adapt, it's a matter of how far.

Yes but if something were to happen and it was sent off as a puma case they can see it. Even if your motor blows completely though they are unlikely to do this (unless you piss the dealer off).

Hell they will probably leave you alone for the most part for having a supercharger, especially if you know people at your dealer.

This isn't a 335.

True having a good dealership or service advisor helps when you have a modded car.

I have taken several modded M cars to Chapman and North Scottsdale BMW and never once had a problem getting warranty work done. Both of my service advisors covered work that maybe should not have been covered under warranty even on my SC'ed M coupe.

335s are a different beast when it comes to warranty. BMW is on a witch hunt with them. Regular BMWs are a lot less likely to be hassled. M cars less then all of them.

wow 30 +rwhp for the headers. if it is the same software as rpi (which i think adds 22 rwhp), then that is 52+rwhp. am i seeing this right?? for 1500 and 50+rwhp sounds good to me.

Anyone who works on the s54 could tell you in a heart beat. It's such an absolute that it's not even worth spitting out credentials, they are ebay headers, period. Just trust me or link the picture on an M3 forum somewhere and ask what headers they are.

They are like $200 max on ebay. I do NOT recommend buying them, there are a bagillion and 1 reasons why they are worth exactly how much they cost.

The RPI/Powerchip tune is adaptive, i have used straight 100 octane, mix 91 and 100 and pure 91 octane...I'd call RPI and see if they can give out a deal for the RPI ram ir tune and software...

Or you can go to Mfest 3 in April and test the tune for yourself as Powerchip will be onsite along with RPI (not confirmed yet) to flash your ecu and test if for yourself on the road or at the track event at Mfest...if you like it you can buy it if not they will flash your ecu back to stock...Now If ESS sponsors this year then they can likely offer this aswell
