Though, the CZ 612 Magnum is another one i'd consider.
Thanks - this is exactly what I was looking for. And I'm leaning to Benelli if I can convince the wife a shotgun is needed. She's much more open to the idea than she was 6 months ago, which is excellent for a person who hates guns in the house. I figure I already have a rifle and pistol...a shotgun would nicely round out the collection.

Never heard of the CZ 612, I'll take a look at that too. I like the CZ pistols frankly, always have, so I might like their shotguns too.

I think you'll get a lot of bang for your buck with the CZ, but then a Benilli for the same price....

I'm curious as to what differences make up the $2000 difference between the Supernova and Cordoba. (I got mine used for $1200, didn't realize it was so expensive new until yesterday) Maybe i should note that the black furniture on mine started to get sticky, like difficult to handle without gloves. I emailed Benilli and they sent out a new stock and fore end, no charge. Those items combined sell on their website for over $400. Was happy with that outcome.

Any opinions on Franchi? I was looking at maybe a benelli Nova?
I have the Stoeger M3000 and it's been great for me. It's a semi-auto that uses the Benelli inertia-driven action for ~$500. I believe Franchi makes a similar model for $100-200 more. My budget at the time was $500 so I picked the Stoeger, but the Franchi was definitely a step up and probably worth the extra cost IMO. If you want to use 3 1/2" shells for duck/turkey I think they make a magnum version, but I don't have any experience with it. The Nova was my other option, but I was able to get the Stoeger semi-auto for the same price so that's what I chose.

I saw a recommendation for a Remington 870, and traditionally those have been fantastic, reliable, shotguns, but I've seen and handled some new ones and was not impressed by the build quality.

Picked up the PRO tonight. Thing is very very tight, barely can work slide. Few hundred rounds should help that slightly. 20 lpi front and back straps are damn abrasive!

did you order it and wait, or find it in a shop/online.

I ordered one from Buds, paid in full, then waited a year and they told me they wouldn't ship it to CA (I ordered it off the CA Approved part of the website), and then they sold it for quite a bit more then I paid and was refunded for. Needless to say, I have done no more business with Buds.

But I have been temped by a couple on Gunbroker

I've seen as low as 2500 recently. Haven't fired it yet but comparing during dry fire with my loaded all I can say is wow. Craftsmanship is evident. Can't help but love it.

Anyone hunt ducks on here? What shotshells do you normally use?

My shoulder would appreciate it if you didn't say the words 3.5" magnum.

The rest of you that hunt - do you normally carry defensive buckshot against predators, or never been much of a concern?
