[RESOLVED] Is it possible to code out the Headlight Level Sensor?
Hi guys,
I recently developed a code with the headlight vertical level sensor. I had a new one handy, so I decided to go ahead and replace it. At first, the code was 34 vhac front load sensor lsz After replacing the sensor, and clearing the codes, the 34 code disappeared but I now have two new codes: 30 control unit error in VHAC-part 31 stepping-motor defect I've tried clearing them in INPA but they come back as soon as I start the car. Do I need to drive around first? EDIT: driving around did not help Important notes: - the little plastic arm on my sensor has been broken for 6 years but this error only showed up a few days ago - the replacement is a brand new headlight vertical level sensor, aftermarket/non-OEM - I do not need the headlight sensor as I am running Spyder HID headlights - I am lowered on ST coilovers My car came with factory Xenon headlights which I've replaced with Spyder headlights. I understand the Halogen headlights do not use a headlight level sensor. In that case, should it not be possible to code out the level sensor altogether? If so, how? Your help is always appreciated Last edited by SwissArmy; 08-08-2020 at 10:25 PM.. |

You would need NCS Expert/NCS Dummy at a minimum to look at the appropriate module.
You should read up on this software and it's abilities... as well as figuring out what module you will need to access.

I already have NCSExpert. I guess I'm not really sure what to do/look for. I tried watching/following some tutorials. I know it's part of the LSZ module. I was hoping if someone has a definitive idea of how to get to that and what to look for

It's been quite some time since I used NCS Expert... I did however download the radio module software into NCS Dummy where I could save module coding as a separate file.. then make the required change and save back to car. That way you still have original file to reload if you did an "oops"....
You likely will need the coding from a car that has the headlights that you installed. But the coding in your car may give an option to make the sensor code line... nicht actif ... if I remember the German right, and that line of code exists in the version of the LMZ software loaded.

You replaced the headlights, the car is looking for the OE electronics, which you removed. You will need to spend time and trial and error.
Search changing the vehicle order and remove xenons, that may help, but even the halogens have the leveling system, is just manual, so it may still throw a code. |

Regardless, I grew some balls and learned about NCSExpert and went in and decoded the sensor. No error code/light anymore. All good now Thanks all |
