My point is if white or amber lights will suffice, why wouldn't the angel eye count? Seems like the whole reason for the law is so that you can make out the track of the vehicle at night should a headlight go out. An angel eye would accomplish this.

Euro Coding, COMPLETE!
and a total success,

Lets talk you through the visual differences first,

Ok JUST sidelights on, Now it only illuminates the inner angel eye

Now headlights turned on fully,

Only illuminates the angel eye and the Xenon light (exactly like Europe)
Very hard to photograph as it kept blinding the camera,

Now, Obviously the car thinks its in Europe, and in Europe they don't have the rear bumper lights,
So,

Now mine won't illuminate, So its time to paint these imola red

Another thing, Again hard to photo,
But the amber directionals now ONLY light up the bottom two lights,
The top "egg yoke" light is a US only thing and doesn't appear on the Euro headlights,
So now the car thinks its European it won't know these lights exist, So therefor it won't illuminate them

Ok so what else did I get coded,
Well I no longer have an "Accept" screen on the Nav when I start the car,
Europeans obviously don't need one so its not there anymore,
Also I can close the roof with the key, and open with the key,
I also got the alarm activated,
There was a bunch of other things I did too but mostly the important ones were the lights,
Now,

I'm looking into buying the hardware to be able to do this myself so watch this space and I can start doing your cars

Don't worry I'm on it,
I'm going to buy the hardware to be able to do thus myself,
I will be able to do all BMW's not just Z4's

That looks really great. I just got my angel eyes hooked up by Eric at Tekarbon and those ambers are just killing the look. This would be great if we can just send you the LCM and you can flash the Euro spec onto it. Any ideas of possible pricing for the future? Also, after the flash, is the "pathway lighting" feature still available when you park you car and flash the high beams? You can email me at itsregie at yahoo dot com.

Yup everything will be the same,

I will be able to leave everything as you have it now (or modify it however you want)
and add the Euro lighting spec,

With the Euro coding you get no error messages or "light out" warnings,
The car simply thinks its in Europe

I will be keeping pricing as low as I can, But the freedom to be able to do any BMW will sure help!

Nice, very nice. Did you do a complete flash of the full car or just the software in the LCM?

Today I did a DIY and killed the amber glasses by shattering it. Worked great too, but yours is even better :-).

Mind giving us a bit more detail on your procedure?

Lightbulb DIY: Removing the amber glass bulbs

I had no intention to open up the (glued) casings surrounding the headlight and decided to shatter the amber glass inside the unit after removing the bumper and light unit itself.

If you can't wait for the LCM update (above) or prefer "white blinkers" (= allowed in the Netherlands) this is a doable solution!

1. Remove bumper, see other posts for details, but essentially it is unscrewing the top and bottom and side parts and carefully removing it. The headlight is easy and attached to these 4 points.

2. BTW: to remove the side part of the bumper use some force and stay confident you'll don't break it.

3. Open the headlight, remove the two halogen 21W lights with the screwdriver from the BMW toolkit. Use another long screw driver to shatter the glass via the light bulb holes. (you can now also easily replace the outer amber bulp with a clear one - this one doesn't blink)

4. Now the trick to get the glass out! => shake the unit to get all shattered pieces in the inside corner of each units. Stick a stone grinder 12 MM inside the hole of the halogen light unit and move it up and down to pullverize the pieces.

5. This one fitted perfectly.

6. Time to reassemble, start inserting the lower light bulbs back in the unit, add the backplate, mount the unit on the 4 screws on each side. Reattach the bumper (2 person job).

7. Take the car to the dutch authorities for inspection

Can be done in ~2 hours once you know the drill... we needed 4 hours for the full exercise.

More pictures of the lightunit click here

Ok update for everyone,
I "should" have all this wrapped up by next weekend shipping permitting

Very worse the following weekend,

I will be able to do everything the dealer can do, code anything, reprogram anything, add anything that needs coding (such as alarms, reset airbags, code keys, code LCM's, set key features, cycle ABS, Fuel pumps etc etc etc) and I also believe I can re-flash the DME too,

Until I play with the program I won't know exactly what I can do but I also will be able to do it on EVERY BMW and Mini car made from 2001 up to present,

This is going to be awesome

So you basically got your hands on a GT1? What do we need to "ship" to you in order to get this done?

Also, I presume I can just swing by? lol

No I can do more than a GT1,
Exactly what I can do I don't know yet but I know it's more than the GT1 can do,
Yes you can swing by, or send your lcm

When you have it figured out, would you kindly provide a list of options to be turned on/off and a DIY writeup to take out the LCM. Is it hard to take it out? I assume that you'll charge a flat fee to turn on/off feature(s), right? What will the price range be? Sorry for so many questions, so excited..

TIA,

So I wonder is there no way to replace the halo bulb for brighter or whiter output?
