Neil's Coupe

Picked up my car from BMW back in February 2013. Here's the build to date...

Started with day one.

39. Interior by NeilllP, on Flickr

First modification was a better battery for the audio system.

IMG_7690 by NeilllP, on Flickr

Next onto the audio side of things...

The source is my iPhone running to an Apple Airport express.

The Airport Express will feed to an Audison Bit Ten D with an optical cable.

The processor is then conencted to a JL Audio HD900/5 amplifier which runs the Hertz HSK165 2 way component speakers (actively) and either a pair of JL Audio 8w3v3's or a 10W7.

Wood and jig.

Traced and cut.

Test fit.

All sits nicely.

Bolted the adaptor in.

And then the speaker.

and all closed up (obviously the gaps seen are not visible once installed back. ( I also sealed the tweeter in with flashing tape to reduce any air flow around the driver)

All done by NeilllP, on Flickr

and the amp and processor in.

Next comes suspension. KW V2's.

And then some wheels, because the 108's have never been a massive favourite of mine.

Had then acid dipped and powder coated. Wrapped them with Falken fk453 tyres and loved it!

Washed the car.

Cleaned the engine.

IMG_1655 by NeilllP, on Flickr

Played with the height & dampers.

145. Tad lower, much cleaner. by NeilllP, on Flickr

Started off with a splitter:

Then a full detail. Snow foam, 2 bucket wash, clay, 1 coat each of AutoGlym SRP and Ultra Deep Shine and then a layer of Meguiars #16, topped off with ultimate liquid wax. Finally some spray wax just for good measure. Megs of course.

IMG_8059 by NeilllP, on Flickr

Then robbed the 10mm spacer from my track car and slapped it on the rear.

Got bored of the tiger claws so I started looking at new wheels.

Ended up finding a set of replacements. 19" Rial Daytonas.

And then some from the annual meet at the BMWCCGB 2015 Festival.

Got a few quick pictures while on the way there...

Far from your lovely machine! Sadly I've cracked the front lip badly and need to get a replacement! (It's currently patched up and looks really bad!)

I was pretty patient in finding a car with all the spec I wanted. Thankfully this car came up for sale right around when I was looking for one!

I really love the two tone interior, it reminds me of my old z3 mc. Can you post a couple of pics of the interior? Did that come standard? Looks great!

Will leave this here in the mean time!

I like the black/red leather dash trim in Pic #2. Is that applied over the stock trim piece or a complete replacement?

It was a factory option.

Thank you!

Spent the past three days preparing the car for Players tomorrow.

Started with hosing the car down and drying it off and then two passes of:

Meguiars finishing wax

Autoglym Ultra Deep Shine

Meguiars #16 hard wax

and Finished off with Meg's Ultimate Liquid Wax.

Lastly a light spritz of Dodo Juice Red Mist and a final wipe down.

The wheels were cleaned with a weak solution of Megs D140 and water. Dried with some quick detailer and lastly wiped with Red Mist.

Dishes were polished with AutoSol and some elbow grease.

Where's the 10W7 hiding? I don't know why, but when I saw your name I immediately thought of Neil Patel. You have no idea how common that name is over here.

This looks like it would get in the way or be uncomfortable, does it bother you at all sticking out like that?

Haha!

The W7 is currently sat in my room as I'm left with no boot space when it is in.

I do miss the sound of it over the twin 8w3. Debating selling them up and replace it with a single 8w7.

Made space for the dub7. Had to be done. by Neil Patel, on Flickr

It replaces the factory woofer. The original trim goes back over it. Unless you put a torch to the grill, you won't know it's been replaced.

Credit and thanks to the respective photographers!

Found this from BMW Festival 2015 at Gaydon.

A few from Westside in September, here are some of the pictures of the car!

and lastly, some I got after Westside. I wasn't really going for a 'look' just found a cool-ish location after taking the long way home!
