Beeping
I got in my Z yesterday to go visit a relative that is in the hospital. Im already concerned about her, and then my Z dosent stop beeping at me. You know when you first start the car, it beeps for about 10 secs or so, mine didnt stop. It just kept beeping. I get to the hospital, a good 30 minute ride of the radio wide open, get to the hospital and its still beeping. Came out of the hospital, about 1 and a half hour later, beeping has stoped. Hasn't done it before and am wondering if I need to be concerned. Im calling my SA tomorrow about it and see what they say. Any help/advice is greatly appreciated.
TIA. John

Was it beeping when off, or only when on? Was the door closed all the way? (just have to ask)

Doors were closed, and it beeped when the key was off and out of the ignition and headlamp switch was turned off. Everything was normal as far as I could see.

this happens to me too!
and i thought i was the only one. It only happens about 3 times a year, but for some reason it just beeps and beeps. i've found that if you shut the car off/remove key/exit/lock doors it will shut off after bout 2 minutes. its sooooo annoying. it always seems to happen on days when i'm already having a bad day. TOTALLY SUCKS!!! i think its a bad ignition switch honestly. i'm going to bring it up the next time i take it in for service before my CPO warranty is up. I'm crossing my fingers that they will fix it. |

I drove a 3.0si earlier and I didnt fasten my seat belt and it basicly told me to get the MF belt on, lol. It got angry at me until I complied with the cars demands. I think that the pre-facelift Z's dont have the belt reminder.
Nothing was in the passenger seat and my safety belt was fastened securely. Im going to ask one of the BMWNA reps today at the Vendor Fair and the Homecoming. Ill let yall know what they say later tonight.

I was also wondering if there was a way to remove the beeper. It's inordinantly loud but I guess it has to be to be heard with the top down at speed.

Sometimes the sensor of the passenger seat get stuck...so try the "Fred Flinstone" move:
just hit the passenger seat when beeping or push it hardly and then suddenly release it. If it's the sensor, it just will not beep again when you switch ignition on again It just happened to me once
