Which Z4 pre-owned?
Hi there.
This topic has been discussed allot I guess. I am looking for some input. I am going to start looking for a pre-owned Z4 roadster for a daily run to the office and back. Is there a specific year model that I have to look at to start. For an example nothing older than 2006? Insurance is no big difference between the 2.5 and 3.0 for me so that wont have an factor, so I guess the 3.0 is the size to go for. My only requirement for now is low mileage and that is about it, color is not a major factor but will be looking a bit harder for a black model. Any pointers will be much appreciated. Regards |

I have owned both a 2004 3.0i and a 2006 3.0si.
Although the changes between the two are subtle, they are noticeable, even for a daily driver. I use mine for daily driving, to the office and back, plus weekend mountain drives with the top down, so no serious track driving. Still, 2006 and up had improvements made to both suspension and the engine that improved both the ride and acceleration on the low end - http://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/...take-road-test I can tell you from experience you can feel the differences. Of course both cars are fun to drive but if you get the pre-2006, you’ll always be wondering what you’re missing.

Do you know what "suspension tweaks" were made?
Was the geometry changed or were spring and damper rates updated? Thanks! Donovan

Thank You for the reply. There will be no track days unfortunately as I need the car for daily run and the insurance here will have a field day with I start to mod the car for track days. So let the hunt start. |

If not an M, go for a 3.0si. Here is a nice article

Last question
Is there any noticeable differences between the 2006 and pre facelift. I just want to know what to look for when viewing models to actually take the face lift one. Regards |
