Any Legit 3.0si N52 flash tune out there?

Is there any way to squeeze more power?

Have you looked?

Check out the E90 section

Your real options exclude:

Tune
MLVS
Headers
Supercharger

Naturally aspirated your probably capped at 245HP at the wheels, supercharged can get you another 50.

If your stock and a manual you are probably sitting at 215 at the wheels.

Both Epic and Kassel have tunes for the 3.0si, but both are around $900.

I am running with the following.

SuperSprint headers and race exhaust.
Dinan bigi bore throttle body
AFE cold air intake
JB Lightweight flywheel and clutch

The 3.0si already has the stage 3 intake. There is not much more you can do.

If you really want more power you should look at upgrading the differential to a 3.73 LSD

We got 337.6 whp with the ESS G1 supercharger, custom intake, water/meth, and 10 psi of boost on a 2007 Z4 3.0si. The lack of vacuum available to actuate a normal bypass valve is our current obstacle. While there are venting options available, my intention is to not run alpha-n in the future and instead run a MAF-based tune, so we are looking at electronic bypass valves.

Curious if you were able to dyno this setup?

Finally got some numbers back from the Dyno comparing the 2 known providers of Tunes for the N52

DynoJet Results

Kassel Performance 253.15 Whp and 291.12 estimated at the crank.

Epic Motorsports 248.74 Whp and 286.05 estimated at the crank.

Through the mid range the Kassel has about a 10hp gain but less above 6300 RPMs. I think with a little more time the Kassel could get to 255.00

My Takeaway is if you are racing then the Kassel is a better bet, but for the street the Epic is less stress on the engine.

List of Modifications:
  • Headers
  • Straight pipe exhaust to Supersprint Muffler
  • Dinan larger throttle Body
  • AFE Cold Air intake

Is there any chance the AFR charts are reversed for the two tunes?

One goes pig rich at the top, almost looks like cat protect is not turned off. You would expect that tune to produce the least amount of power in that range.

The dyno guy said the same thing, we ran both DME's for 6 runs each. I have sent the results to get an explanation from Epic.

Interesting, thank you for sharing this.
Keen to look at torque increase line, to see where any increases are.

FYI

So I went to VIR a few weeks back for CCA club race with the Kassel tune and ran into a small problem. The torque limiter kept throwing the car into limp mode.

This is a rare issue but one to be noted, Jim said this had only happened once before and it just so happened to be his car. We are adding the MLVS to the mix this time around to see if we can pick up another 8 to 10 whp so hopefully the adjustments will fix the issue.

I apologize, I just dropped to the bottom response so if this is redundant then I apologize. Active Autowerkes's does have a magnificent Z4 tune for the 3.0i available for $500. I purchased it and absolutely love it. But the real cherry is that working with Nick ( the actual programmer ) or one of the Hugh brothers, ( the actual founders of AA is such a positive experience it in my humble opinion is the way to go since it is so easy to then have AA deliver another tune at a reduced cost for any other mods you may do. They are stellar fast at updating your exacting mods into thier personalized tunes it is incredible and they are so willing to do it too. Hope this helps.
