Have you put yours away yet?

Did the deed on the weekend.
Went for a final cruise on Saturday before washing her up,
then put her under wraps on Sunday.

I was supposed to, but I couldn't do it!! Had her out for short jaunts on both Sat and Sun. The wife is going to shut this down in short order on me though, as she keeps reminding me to move the insurance to "fire & theft" only for the winter.

Who trickle charges and who pulls the battery out? Can't decide which way to go, as I have read some horror stories regarding trickle chargers, while others have raved about them.

Wow, mummified.

Mine, however, will soldier on in the winter as a necessity.

I use 'Battery Tender'
You need a unit that regulates a true maintenance float level.
A normal trickle charger will not do that.

What's that around the bottom of the car?

I never completely mothball mine - I've switched to the stock wheels with all-seasons and had it detailed, but I keep driving it thru the winter unless there's snow on the roads. My usual target is to take it for at least a one hour run every week. It will see more activity if I don't get off my butt and find a winter car like I planned.

Wow, that is seriously wrapped up! It is going to be inside through the winter, no?

Mine doesn't get wrapped up usually until December - we rarely get snow and I'll drive it on nice days until they first salt the roads. Once road salt is down, I don't drive it until we get a few good spring rains to rinse the roads off.

Mine gets to stay in my heated basement - we have a two-car garage under the house as well, but the third bay open up straight into the basement, so when parked, it's a balmy 68-70 degress year round for the Z4MC. We don't cover it up but let it sit out to be admired while laid up for the bad roads...

Mine is in a similar state - past Saturday - of course I can easily take the car cover off for a cold morning cruise here and there if it's dry outWhats with the plastic wrap?

Mine is away until spring.
The garage is unheated, so the plastic is to prevent moisture coming up from the bottom and condensing under the car.
There are also two large bags of desiccant in there to suck up moisture in the air.

Now THAT'S the way to store a car for winter.

Mine is not stored away yet, but definitely before the end of the month. The weather this past weekend was just awesome for November, out here on The Rock (the east coast of Canada) - sunny and 62 to 65F. My wife and I went for a lovely top-down spin on Saturday afternoon, and I went for another jaunt on Sunday morning and again after lunch. I even spotted a couple of other Z4's out enjoying the lovely weather at the same time!

Cheers!

Put the Z away? Hell, I am still riding my motorcycle (today I did!). The bike will go away way before the car will. Car doesn't go away until it is supposed to start snowing, or when the salt is first laid down!

I do a battery tender as well, definitely the way to go!

Plus we're getting highs in the '60's right now so I'm driving the M while I can! I still haven't put on my winter tires yet, either. There'll likely be an abrupt change in temps at some point soon so I'll just DD my old Jeep..

Put it away? I just bought it a week ago and put winters on it.
I bought it to drive, not store.

What do you all use for tire flat spotting? Not sure how the ps2's will stand up to my cold garage floor. How high a PSI do you overinflate too?

How bad is the moisture w/o the plastic underneath? Gets cold here (0-10F) for a few weeks but nothing crazy. I take it the moisture is only formed from the cover correct? Not wanting to go overboard but I do worry.

We get a lot cold damp winter air & go through a lot of freeze thaw cycles.
I didn't bother sheeting the bottom on my previous M roady and I noticed a LOT of condensation over the winter.
I drove that car occasionally through the winter, so it wasn't as big an issue.

It's probably overkill, but I'm planning to hang onto this one for MANY years,
so thought I'd go the extra mile this year.
It's buttoned up until April

You don't really have to worry about that when storing a car for a few months, over a year, sure, but short term won't do anything. Just make sure they're inflated properly and you'll be fine.

Hoping not to have to do it until after Thanksgiving. It's actually going to be 70 today and I have the day off, so I might go for a nice long drive.
