Out the back, only way I can really do it in my garage. Interesting thought though and something to consider.

Here's a couple of photos with our Cayman on the 7000EXT for a 4 corner rotors and pads. It also fits under the E85 Z4M. Getting ready to swap winter tires and rims off the rest of the fleet.

In your s10 pics you did but I have them in the front too. I think there’s least 3 on this thread that have their z with the hoses in front. I think a big consideration too is just where the points of contact are, and in relation to where on the rails the pads are place needing to be as far to each front and back spot possible while maintaining center on the rails along with the cars weight ratio. From the incident in question it sounded like it was already up and locked being worked on so I think the tip would happen even on a 2 post lift. Kind of like this where the engine was pulled on a 2 post lift and car rocked backwards falling off from a greater height than a quick jack because they didn’t take the extra precaution to strap it down to prevent the tip from lack of motor.

QuickJack shows both front/back orientations and laterally on their website. I could sketch out a free body diagram but the weight differential would need to be fairly significant to upset the footprint the load is distributed on

I've been going hoses to rear (although I have the motor/pump in front). I have the 7000SLX. No issues w/ the Coupe.

For storage, I just hook them on some Gladiator hooks on the wall track I have up.

I suppose so. I have 4 cabinets that I picked up at a discount...wow.... almost 10 years ago....when they were clearing inventory of the white/gray cabinets to discontinue them......which I think didn't end up happening. That worked for me since I preferred the white grey and didn't want diamond plate cabinet doors. When we moved, I left the wall track up but took all the hooks, shelves, and cabinets with us.

I actually have 1 more wall that I want to put wall track on but that's the wall my trash and recycle bins are along. I kind of want to build an outdoor structure to move my trash and recycle bins to beforehand (ie get them out of the garage) since they currently block most of that wall.

Issue I see with that it’d be little pita but doable for under work like full exhaust. A reason I considered in not going with certain scissor lifts. The only thing with the quick jack doing like skyer side blades can’t do with the rails right in the way.

Yeah some limitations on both designs, I was just looking the extra height when you have it tipped one way or the other.

That's an interesting lift, never seen it before, thanks for sharing.

A few things to consider.
  • You need 5.5' clear space to the side of the vehicle to slide in under. A Single car garage may be a problem. If a 2 car garage you'll probably need to take the other vehicle outside.
  • If your Z4 is lower than stock there may not be enough clearance under the jack points to fit it under vehicle.
  • I can't say for sure, but if you lifted the back up as high as shown in the pic, the front bumper may hit the ground on a Z4.
  • The thing weights 99 lbs, manageable, but still pretty heavy, the quickjack 5000 weights 78 lbs each with wheels on one end.
  • Work like fluid changes, diff or trans require the vehicle to be level to accurately top the fluid off, guess you can teeter level with jack stands under front and back, though not sure if it would block access to the trans fill/drain plugs.
  • Blocks access for working on the center area of the vehicle.
  • Brake fluid flush would be more of a pain to tilt the vehicle front to back as you go around to each wheel.
For me and the way I use a lift, there are way too many negatives for this autolift over the quickjacks, but maybe I'm biased since I already have the quickjacks and have used them many times on many different vehicles As well, the quickjacks cost me $500 less than this autolift.

I know a guy with a scissor lift that is raised/lowered using a power drill, like that one in the picture. I'd feel a whole lot better climbing under a car on his scissor lift than I would climbing under the car in that picture.

Interesting. Can't say I've ever seen that one before. Seems like it'd be difficult to slide it under the car.

My main concern is with the lifting points. No way will those pads reach both lifting points on any of my cars. I suppose you just let it rest on the pinch welds and hope for the best.
