M Coupe: 2006 vs 2007
Hi guys,
I'm considering the M Coupe and notice there are some excellent 2006 models to be had for considerably less than new. Are there any major/minor differences between the 2006 and 2007 models? Are any changes planned for 2008? Thanks very much in advance! |

Very little....
06 uses ABS for TPS monitoring (easier for aftermarket wheels) 07 has the in tire/wheel sensors 07 has aux in on the radio IDK if there's much else...

Software upgrades to fix some bugs, brighter xenons, aux in jack under the a/c controls. 2008 seems to be shrouded in mystery...kinda like the darkside of the force.

Ok, so I threw that one in there based off of forum threads only. But it seems like 06 Ms that have had new lamps installed are pleased to find out they're brighter than the old ones.

I think we will have a big surprise for the 2008 model. they will put the V8. guess but, if they put the 3.0 turbo for the base model, they have no choice but to put the V8 on the M.

Thanks, guys. Would these bugs/software upgrades be significant enough to discourage you from purchasing a 2006?
What would be a good deal on a 2006, all options, with around 10-15K on the clock? Last edited by napolitano; 08-10-2007 at 10:32 PM.. |

I think the opposite. I think the Z4 won't get the twin-turbo, and the M models will be dropped for 2008.

There is no way that the V8 is going in the Z4 in 2008. That would for sure kill the M3 launch. You won't see this engine in the Z4 until the 2010 launch of the next gen Z4.

I'd agree...seems more likely that there won't be an 08 Z4M. Which is fine by me

FWIW, that's a lot of mileage for a 2006. Mine was a late 2006 build/delivery and stands at 6k miles (#306 - mid-August production date, early October delivery). I would guess low 40's. |

Thanks, Cliff. You seem to have a lot of experience w/ BMWs in general and I appreciate your feedback. Your car looks fantastic.
I'm looking at a 2006 with over 12K miles. They want low 40s for it. I'm planning to offer 40K. Do you think that's reasonable? |

These cars don't seem to be holding their value in the short term, so I think you could probably safely offer $40k for it. Negotiations might bring that number up a bit. I was an early buyer from California who paid MSRP though. You might want to ask someone who is better at squeezing every drop of blood out of a deal than I am...
