##__Skyer Soft Top Cover __##

We have just finished test fitted our soft top side covers. It fits perfectly. Due to the OE latch being plastic and prone to break easily, we have chose to design an adjustable latch (for better alignment for slightly soft top variance) using the combination of set screws and CNC technology.

Now we are choosing the finish between gloss black and matte black. It can also be easily painted to match your top or color of the car.

Stay tune for pre-order group buys.

Good job. I hope they can be made and keep the cost reasonable but still make a profit.

Is the latch going to be forgiving if the owner forgets these are installed and try to put the top up without removing?

At this point, we don't think it's cost effective.

We will be testing that as well.

If the latch breaks if the top is raised with the covers in place, is it practical to include a couple of spare sets of latches with each set of covers, or sell them as separate extras and folks can buy as many as they want? It would be a shame for such a rare and highly sought-after accessory to become unusable for something so easily done.

Great stuff though!

Would it look stupid / tacky to emboss "Z4" on these, in a fashion similar to what appears on the roll hoops of the new G29?

In the couple years I had the roadster with the OE top covers I forgot them in several times when I opened the top and they were never an issue or concern, and the OE latches were all plastic. These should be as durable or better.

What I would be concerned about is when you open the top they just fall out onto the car/ground. The OE ones were rubberized (like our dash or door panels) so would survive the fall, and more than likely not damage the car. With these, if they fell at best they would scratch (the covers or the car), but at worst they would crack. Covering them in Alcantara would not only look great (very premium looking, which the OE's were not), but would add a bit more protection. Great idea.

All that said, if you were negligent and made sure to take them out you'll never have an issue. And these look great - love the idea of paint matching to the car, I would have done that in a heartbeat.

I am adding paint and alcantara to my rollover bars and the alcantara on the covers would visually add some texture to all of the hard surfaces of our cars.

My dream is to have a set in carbon fiber but alcantara is an easier route.

I'm excited to see these. Though, concerned about the smoothness of them. Seems that scratches would become a problem, especially if someone forgot to remove them before raising the top and they fell on the ground. Maybe a textured surface would be better. I prefer a matte look anyways.

Flat black would be better for every color car except black I think, since it will match the rubber areas.

Definitely want.

While my car is blue, the top and the interior are black. With the top covers installed, it all looks quite good IMHO. While most roadster roofs were black, there were some other top colors. Folks with those cars may want to be able to paint their covers to match. Here is what mine looks like. The flat black of the top cover matches nicely with the back of the cabin between the roll hoops.

I do like that textured look of the OEM better than the smooth look of the prototype. What material is the protype made from? Plastic? Fiberglass? Is it possible to texture it?

I think the OEM covers have some sort of covering on them to give that textured surface - I'll take a close look tonight and report back.

Huh-Z yes they do. Almost like a leatherette finish.
One other poster talked about Alcantara covering which would look nice as well
